Hey C-H--"Splish Splash" may be embarrassing or crap to you , but Mr. Darin was pleased as punch and never disavowed it. How could he? He co-wrote it and thus got tons of royalties over and above the major career boost it gave him.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splish_Splash_(song)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrbxKJ8YGwE << Now this is embarrassing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KmKkV3ddAo << sadly, the uploader lied--no lyrics; you'll have to fake it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVHAQX5sSaU << same era but no jokey stuff here; this one still gets to me 55 years later

BOBBY DARIN "....sings ray charles" cd, 1962
Walden Robert Cassotto's twelfth album in around four years, not sure if they were all studio sets prior to this one, but either way, pretty damn prolific.
this one is just as the title says....
a covers set of Ray Charles songs...
maybe,if didnt know the originals i would love this album, but its pretty hard to beat any great singer at their own game... but Bobby holds his own against them very well...
nothing on here i dont like but no-one,and i mean no-one should be allowed to cover "what'd i say"(including Elvis who did a really bad version of it IMO)...
this guy could do covers respectfully unlike Pat Boone...now he is embarrassing!
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

EARTHA KITT "revisited" vinyl, 1961
thought i'd pull out a few old vinyls to play for a change, and get the 'warm/full' sound of music back to my ears instead of sterile digital sounds of cd's....
this is a UK compilation of some of Eartha's 1950s material....the original femme fatale as she was affectionately known down this way...
some of these songs are sung in foriegn languages and i just cannot understand them, but she has feel and emotion in her vocals that overrides that language brickwall i have come up against...
some lovely music(well actually, its all lovely) on here, and nothing on here i dont like, some i love immensely...just a pleasant change from the rock/alt sounds i have been listening to of late..
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

best track: just an old fashioned girl

What a great share from C-H--an unalloyed good. Her sexy, growly voice still, er, stirs me--earthy Eartha, I calls her. She always sings in one language--the primal. 3 other selections included on (but not taken from) that disc:
