Solid live set, with some excellent guests, and some not so interesting...

Charlie Parker - Charlie Parker With Strings: The Master Takes

This one seems to have been a bit controversial on release, because the material is significantly different to the then-standard Bird bebop.

It's hard for me to understand the controversy, as this is generally a very good album.

Listening to an album that my good friend Moses Oakland sent me of his quartet playing 'live' at Famous Dave's in the Twin Cities which he describes as being mostly July 28, 2002.
I haven't heard it for a couple of years now as the last copy died on me and I forgot, I'm sad to admit, just how much I like his singing and playing.
For me, two of the stand out tracks are his versions of the Thrill Is Gone and Congo Square. This latter has got me into the original by Sonny Landreth!
