Music Head Wrote:must confess, I was a little doing a double take on CH's remarks also.
even the Stevie Wonder smarm.
I think he's just trying to prank us jazz
If so he succeeded admirably. I thought it over for an hour before responding for real (had some nuclear stuff in earlier thoughts). So...But I did get to put up some stuff, that concert in particular, for the young'uns that might bring folks in. And so it goes...

thanks for the compliments MH/jazzy...
yes, it was all tongue-in-cheek...
surely you must have realised that when a third of the album's tracks got a "love" score and i "liked the rest of it!!!!!
also,
an overall score of 2.3, a score that borders a "i love this album" score...
you guys know im a fan of those 1950-thru-1970s black R+B singers from Jackie Wilson thru Chi-Lites/Earth Wind & Fire and Curtis Mayfield...

It's been some time since I ventured back to the jazz scene, but this album musically highlighted a night in with a beloved bottle of Glenfidditch. The live-recording album is wonderful, not suprising given the ensemble that performs on it. Art Blakey on drums, Clifford Brown on trumpet, Lou Donaldson on alto sax, Horace Silver on piano and Curly Russell on bass. If you're a little familiar with these mens careers and talents then you can imagine the musically stimulating performances they can provide. I was swept away as the vibrant atmosphere of the live crowd inspired the band to deliver instant jazz classics and jaw dropping solos. So when you can, take a trip to Birdland.

BOBBY DARIN "this is darin" cd, 1960
Darin's third album and third release of that year....
already moving away from that embarrassing "splish splash" crap into a 'real' music artist...
not quite the crooner,bluesy-jazz guy but he's getting there fast!
theres nothing i love on this album, but thankfully, nothing to dislike neither, a good solid album by a singer destined for greatness over the next decade and a bit.
