He wrote this one too.
BTW, how would anybody react on finding out at 32 that those 2 folks who raised you were really your grandparents and that woman you thought was your sister was really your mother? Profound depression, I'm thinking.

i didnt know that about his grandparents/parents....thanks jazzy!

also, here's Little River Band's lead vocalist Glen Shorrock's solo version of "dream lover" from around 1979...
despite their huge success as a band around that period, this one wasnt as big a hit as it probably could have been...

This rendition presented is excellent and why I bring stuff forward. One niggling thing: Mr. Darin's is still the defining version for the degree of angst expressed through slightly-behind-the-melody singing...as if he was making it up as he went along and wasn't quite sure what words to use. A subtle thing but what frequently divides even the better covers/tributes from a dead-on original. With Mr. Shorrock, it was another song to sing; with Mr. Darin it was THE song to sing--he couldn't not do it It seems that modern bands try to remove this subtlety, this originality of total approach so they can collect the pitiable royalties from wide-spread covers. Over-thinking, crusty old bugger, ain't I?
I hope this post doesn't discourage anyone from posting anything; certainly not meant as a negative criticism.

Everyone has an Angel: a Guardian who watches over us. We can't know what form they'll take. One day, old man. Next day, little girl. But don't let appearances fool you, they can be as fierce as any dragon. Yet they're not here to fight our battles, but to whisper from our heart. Reminding that it's us: it's everyone of us who holds power over the world we create. -Sweet Pea

Yes, SteveO! That entire clip was magnificent!! (sorry, I should have quoted it in my reply). I'm grateful that jazzbo keeps up on the musical events happening in *my* neighborhood and then alerts me to them!! *laughs*

This song used to be on the Geico commercials and my favorite cat I ever had (my baby) who died about seven years ago would stop and sit in front of the TV and watch the little Geico swinging in a swing while this song would be playing. I still miss my Scooter so much!! For some reason he loved this song. After it was over he would get up and leave.
