2nd album - #117 US, #12 US Country
Singles - Give Back My Heart
..........She's No Lady
..........I Loved You Yesterday
..........Simple Song
..........If I Had a Boat

Seems like Lyle's career followed the same path as K.D.'s. Both started with a country feel then moved over to more in the jazz arena. Both have
about the same number of albums. Both have 4 Grammys. Although neither artist has really hit it big, they both command respect for their
longevity. This is Lyle's second and it crosses that boundary with about the first half for us country folk, and the rest more blues/jazz.
Allmusic gives it their perfect score so somebody there likes both styles. We get Vince Gill and Emmylou for backup vocal chores on three
different tracks. Of course one of the Emmylou tracks gets my favorite. Nothing I love on here though and it just squeaks into the like range.
None of the above singles made it to the big chart but most did show up on the country side with Give Back My Heart doing the best.

5th album - #26 US, #54 UK, #40 Can
Singles - Skinny Legs

Lyle comes across with a Randy Newman feel in lyrics and delivery on this for me. A lot more of a string section than the previous Pontiac that
I posted with hardly any country vibes which I guess is why it never touched the country chart, a first for Lyle's albums. Says the songs for
this were written before his debut album so they were digging up bones. We get guest spots from Rickie Lee Jones and Leo Kottke, and Lyle's wife
at the time, Julia Roberts even does some background vocals, doesn't say what tracks of course. This is the end of my Lyle exposure. Six albums
since this one with his highest charting being 2007's It's Not Big It's Large peaking at #18 overall and #2 country. Last one was in 2012,
Release Me which tapped out at #60.

Lyle Lovett is not exactly a trend chaser, is he? And like many that follow their own muse, has had a solid, respectable career without getting to any popular heights. BTW, love his hair.

Firefall’s eponymous debut album as well as Luna Sea. Gorgeous stuff and great cover art into the bargain. It’s going here ‘cos it belongs to the genre ‘hybrid’ i.e. country rock/soft rock/pop rock/rock rock! Gave up trying to figure it out – doesn’t seem all that important.

Yep – that’s cool. Awesome double bass and the video is genius, especially the final minute. Religious angst sure worked for these guys, creatively speaking!
