No restrictions here, certainly not on Jamaican music, more especially not if it's a reggae take on a soul classic. Fascinating guy: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/horace-an.../biography

Grace Jones - Living my Life
Reggae, Funk, & Disco combined to good effect. I know she's a bit of a controversial character, but this is a pretty good record.
"Controversial" understates the case. She's still working, though in a different vein. http://www.allmusic.com/artist/grace-jon.../biography

Go to this page - http://wglt.org/streams/blues.phtml - and you'll find stream links to WGLT Blues 24/7 out of Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. Runs the entire gamut of Blues from Traditional to Electric. And if you want to see what else they have on there, their Homepage is at http://wglt.org/
That first link is broken--here's the current one: http://wglt.org/streams/blues.shtml << his second link for the home page is correct.

Tiggi Wrote:Lonnie Johnson With Elmer Snowden - Blues & Ballads
I'd never heard of Lonnie Johnson until watching a Buddy Holly anniversary documentary a few weeks ago. Johnson was a guitar influence on Holly, and some of his music was included in the film.
It really caught my ear, & I'd describe it as mellow acoustic blues. According to the CD notes, Johnson was working in a hotel, and Snowden hadn't recorded for 26 years when this was cut in 1960.
Johnson had a very rich musical career, including working with Duke Ellington & Louis Armstrong. How could someone used to working with that calibre of musician drift into obscurity ??
Included in the Thread "Top 100 blues guitarists" item #10 and #56.

Basic country blues from a well-travelled US migrant to Blighty.
There may be many more worthy blues albums that should have a higher priority on my buy list, but this is excellent fun...
