One of the first of the hostile takeovers. Before Paul the Ex-General did his power grab, women had a full and equal partnership in the nascent church. Once this woman-hater completed his machinations, they were reduced to a very secondary role. It took the Wiccans to bring them back to equality, outside the Church. That's why "witches" were so hated and burnt in the Middle Ages--they represented another source of power to those child-rapers in the Church. BTW, Mary Magdelene was a hooker and married to Jesus--deal with that. There's a phrase describing those loving their oppressors--"Stockholm Syndrome":

I'm taking it old school and reading Treasure Island by RLS. I never read it as a kid or teenager and thought I'd give it a go now. Next up is All Creature Great and Small by James Harriot. I've been told by so many English friends of mine that it's a must read, so I'll give it a go.

Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 â February 2, 2014) Just found out tonight that my favorite male star in Twister passed away in February from drugs. How sad!! He was such a great actor!! Don't know why these successful people let drugs get the better of them.

I have to read a lot of stuff for university, but right now I am reading Virginia Woolf's first novel, The Voyage Out. She's quite an inspiration for me and I am looking at starting a reading group on women's literature next year. Next I start on Adorno's works on Bach and poetry.

First Korean war history I recall reading. Very good for me, having been stationed there in the 60's. In addition to the war itself, there is a lot of politics in this which was fine for me. Battlefield stuff does get about half the book. A lot of it about McArthur and not the positive side. Have read other McArthur books that seemed a little less unbiased. In the end old Harry did the right thing cutting him loose. Wouldn't even salute the man. He should have remained King of Japan. Anyway that's my rant and this is a very good book.
