What Are You Listening To?
Going to be listening to Eumir Deodato de Almeida today - anyone remember him from the late sixties/early seventies?

back to Knickerbockers post....

they had two charting singles here...

1965 "lies".........................#10
1966 "one track mind".........#77

i only remember "lies", thought that was a good mid '60s pop record

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "the rising" cd, 2002

career stats:

albums: 18
singles: 71

this album stats: #1 US, #4 AU, #1 CAN, #1 UK

singles:
"the rising"......................#52 US, #24 AU, #94 UK
"lonesome day"................#39 UK
"waiting on a sunny day"...#59 CAN

another xmas giftcard purchase...
i had to waste a giftcard purchase on this one to replace the one that has gone missing from my sollection at some point!
this is The Boss' 12th studio set.
most of the tracks were written in the wake/fallout from 9/11, thus, a lot of these songs have subject matter associated with that horrific event.
as usual, its pretty hard to knock the lyrics of Springsteen, he's up there with Dylan as a writer(wordsmith) IMO, few do it as good!
the most interesting track on this is "worlds apart" which has mid-east type music and backing vocals/chants in arabic...very touchy subject back then in the US i guess, but Bruce pulls it off brilliantly...
very little here to complain about in any form, most the songs are what you'd expect.
i guess if i had to complain about something, then its the same thing i dislike about modern albums and that is...
everyone tries to fill the full 70+ minutes of a cd with music instead of making a concise great album worth 45 minutes!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: into the fire
best track: waiting on a sunny day

tracks:

1. lonesome day **
2. into the fire *
3. waiting on a sunny day ***

I tried listening to this once and once is all I could manage. Half the time the guitars are out of tune and the playing is disjointed - a shambles really. Sorry don't like this at all.

im not sure if ive heard that album Jerome, but i did play an old vinyl of Barrett's at MH's house...
we both hated whatever album it was, but i did like a couple of tracks off it...3 out of 10 is sad!

i cant see what all the fuss is about the guy and why he is regarded as a "legend" and/or "genius", i much prefer the PF years of Waters/Gilmour.

as far as I'm concerned
they got rid of the baggage
so they could become Pink Floyd
