His ninth album, hit #4 here, #3 Australia, #12 Canada, #2 UK, 2nd or 3rd best selling, 7X Platinum. 111 weeks on the chart here.
4 Grammy nominations, Album Of The Year, losing to Thriller
Charting Singles - Keeping The Faith #18, The Night Is Still Young #34, Leave A Tender Moment Alone #27, The Longest Time #14, An Innocent Man
#10, Tell Her About It #1, Uptown Girl #3

Loved what Billy did here in bringing back that do-wop and Frankie Valli sound. Up there near the top for my Billy Joel collection. Six out of
10 love tracks, fav is hard. On the other side I thought Christie Lee was horrible, Easy Money almost as bad. Just noticed neither of those were
singles. Joel acknowledges the sounds of his upbringing through a lot of these songs and he was pleasantly surprised at the success of album,
admitting they were a step away from what he had been doing. While recording this album Billy had started dating supermodel Christie Lee
Brinkley. His first time being single since his initial success, and he was testing the waters.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Cristie Lee

Deep Purple - Made in Europe - Paice and Lord are exceptional on this album. Blackmore too, but not as good as his work on 'Rainbow - On Stage' which for me has to be the high point of live rock.
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

His 11th album, hit #1 here, #1 Australia, #4 Canada, #5 UK, 6th best selling, 4X Platinum.
5 Grammy nominations, winning none
Charting Singles - We Didn't Start The Fire #1, I Go To Extremes #6, And So It Goes #37, The Downeaster Alexa #57, That's Not Her Style #77

My least favorite of the 3 I have on cd. Billy had decided to make some changes, getting rid of a couple of long time band members, and picking
up Foreigners Mick Jones for some duties. Surprised to see allmusic give it such a low score and their review was pretty scathing also. We
Didn't Start The Fire is one of only three BJ #1 singles. It gets a love score from me if only for the history lesson, don't care for the
chorus. Leningrad is by far the standout. Liked Shameless better until Garth Brooks did it. Looks like Billy decided to go out on top as he only
had one more album after this one. A very fine 20 year career.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Stormfront...
is another cd that seems to have dissapeared from my collection over the years!!!!!
"downeaster alexa" used to be my favourite track on it...
like you, love the history lesson in the lyrics...

with that "we didnt start the fire" track...
i read somewhere that Billy wrote it earlier that year after turning 40yrs of age...
and he started to look back to see how the world had changed since 1949 when he was born, so he wrote all the major events down(one for each year of his life) and chronologically wrote the song....
now,IMO, it takes a great writer to be able to do that,to make it rhyme and flow effortlessly!

i also have his followup album "the bridge" on cassette...i dont like it at all!

SUPERTRAMP - Live in Paris (1979)

Still one of the best live albums I have ever heard! I saw this band three times in the 70s and they never failed to please!

All the songs are excellent and the sound is phenomenal for a live album!

Here's a sample of something great!
