What Are You Listening To?
I'm glad you're warming up to it. That is a classic album.

Luomo - Tessio (Stimming Remix) from Tessio [Great Stuff Recordings, 2009]

^ I don't think this sort of music is ever going to be as central to my listening as it is to yours, but I'm glad to be warming to it, too...

Mokira - Lord, Am I Going Down? from Persona [Type Records, 2009]

Mokira is one of the pseudonyms of Sweden's Andreas Tilliander. He reserves it for his clicks n' cuts work. He is a giant of the techno world, and in typical Atlanta fashion, slept on my floor when he came through on a tour. My roommate at the time opened for him. Atlanta does not have an electronic music scene worth speaking of.

William Basinski - 92982.2 from 92982 [2062, 2009]

This is from a live recording originally made in 1982 but recently remastered.
Quote:William Basinski is a musician, composer, auteur who has worked in experimental media for over twenty years in NYC, expanding the boundaries of the aural landscape. A classically trained clarinetist, he studied jazz saxophone and composition at North Texas State University in the late 70’s. In 1978, inspired by minimalists such as Steve Reich and Brian Eno, he began developing his own vocabulary using tape loops and old reel to reel tape decks. He developed his meditative, melancholy style experimenting with short looped melodies played against themselves creating feedback loops.

I got on the Fennesz wagon too and downloaded "Endless Summer." Very nice album... Not quite what I expected, but very nice.

Kangding Ray - Automne Fold

Third installment in the JonG Best of 2008 Challenge.

This is definitely closer to my usual tastes. Throbbing beats that suggest a hint of threat. Very good album.

I've no real frame of reference for this, hence can only describe it as being very Kangding Ray-ish...
