listened to your favourite track MH....good stuff!
also thought i'd listen to "stacy's mum"....a bit immature, but then again, that is what the song is about, so i guess that did its job too, liked it also!

SEX PISTOLS "never mind the bollocks, here's the...." vinyl, cassette,cd, 1977.
oh yeh!, this is what im talking about baby!....REAL kickarse "punk", none of that stupid psuedo crap they call punk nowadays..ie: sum41,good charlotte etc etc...!, this is the real mccoy!
punchy, aggressive, rough-edged rock and roll where almost every track kicks the butt of just about everything else ever recorded IMO....
these guys werent great musicians by any means, but they knew their limitations and excelled at whet they did...
contains "anarchy iin the UK", "god save the queen" and "holidays in the sun", plus at least six other tracks of equal class...
this was the group's only studio album, and ranks alongside The Clash's debut set for me as the greatest punk albums of all time...mind you, REAL punk only lasted about a year, but it changed the whole musical landscape of that time forever, much the same as 1956 Elvis Presley changed music and 1967 Beatles also!
interesting to note that 1977 was the Queen's silver jubilee year as head of state in the UK, the Pistols released "god save the queen" as a single, it debuted at #2 on the UK charts, next week it was not in the charts, then the following week it was back in at #2 again...why is that you may ask?, well, it actually went from #2 to #1 then back to #2 again, but the prim and proper BBC decided that it could not allow a song such as that to be on top of the charts...!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

yep, thats the BBC for you, they banned Everly's "ebony eyes", "tell laura i love her" and numerous others...then banned Frankie Goes To Hollywood, some Style Council, Duran Duran etc etc...they are an establishment run organisation, with no sense of humour

THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH "welcome to the beautiful south" cd, 1989
when UK group The Housemartins split, Norman Cook went off to become Fat Boy Slim, the remainder became Beautiful South...
this is their debut set...still have the melancholy type vocals of the previous group but themusic for the most part is like Housenartins in their quieter moments...
still tuneful,melodic and catchy...
this one made it to #2 on the UK charts and went platinum out there, three singles lifted off this one "song for whoever" made it to #2 in the UK, "you keep it all in" #8, and "i'll sail this ship alone" #31...the second single was unlucky not to be my favourite track here, instead giving it to "woman in the wall"..
this band released ten studio albums, eight of which made it into the UK top10, before they split due to "musical similarities"...LMAO!, their previous group, Housemartins, split after two albums citing "chart success" as their reason for parting ways...either these guys are very strange or have a weird sense of humour!

from my library (cd)
First grabbed my attention with an appearance on one of the late nights. Shades of Amy and Adele
depending on the track on this album. A late comer to these shores as her first album in 2009 was not
even released here but went to #9 in her UK homeland, and receiving a nomination for the Brit Awards.
This follow up brought her even greater success there with a #2 showing, and opened up some ears over
here, but we're slow to catch on, only making #170. Five singles have been released with the first
one, Picking Up The Pieces faring the best at #7 in the UK. Nothing I don't like on this album with
the only cover, INXS's Never Tear Us Apart, getting the worst, only because it's a cover. Four love
tracks with that leadoff getting the best.

OASIS "dont believe the truth" cd, 2005
the Gallagher Brothers' sixth album...(they released seven in all)
for themost part this is an uninspiring piece of monotonous, repeatative drivel...its like these guys had, had their run and were running out of ideas...which i guess must be true as principle writer Noel Gallagher only wrote five of the eleven tracks on off here, two of those are brilliant IMO including the UK #1 single "the importance of being idle"...which has very distinct Kinkd overtones to it...
all up, there were three singles lifted off this one, "lyla" which made #1 in the UK and #22 out here, the one mentioned above, and "let there be love" which reached #2 in the UK...
the album obviously reached #1 in their homeland, made the top10 in Australia and Canada, and made the top20 in the US...
interesting to note that Ringo's son Zac plays drums on this album...
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
worst track: love like a bomb
