plextonic Wrote:thanks again for taking the time to do this, jerome! Quite a few people i've showed this album to have had similar thoughts. Generally people don't like this album at first, but then go on to like it a few tracks in, and end up liking the album which they disliked moments ago. Not sure if this hesitant listener acceptance is a good thing or a bad thing...
At least the final outcome is positive! I think if you had to rework some of the parts and have a rethink about some of the electronic effects (easily corrected or reworked), it might make a huge difference to the overall feel of the the album. Just an opinion. The album is quite left of centre, so that is probably why people are a bit taken aback until they get comfortable with it. I just think it needs some polishing up in places in order to 'lift' it a bit. Another thing that will help in the louder sections is frequency slotting - when you have instruments that have similar frequencies, it's best to 'comb' some of them out via EQ - it will clear up the mix for you.
