"Titan Arch" ... A wonderful little Coil ditty from their amazing LSD album! With Marc Almond on vocals, no less.

Ezekiel Honig - Surfaces of a Broken Marching Band
Right, in another thread I challenged Jon to recommend five of the best electronica releases from 2008, which I would then buy over the next few months in order to expand my electronica horizons. This is the first of them. The first few seconds had me thinking that this was well off my normal musical compass, but none the worse for it. My first listen impressions: The fundamental principles of this CD are soft, hazy keyboards set to North-American-Indian-sounding beats, and sprinkled with field recordings of everyday sounds, none of which are readily identifiable. Haunting stuff... I liked this a lot. It struck me as fresh & interesting. Mrs Tiggi fell asleep during the CD, but she has been tired lately :laugh:. If I like this Jon, is it now time for me to bite the Fennesz bullet ??

It's okay to sleep to music like that.
Yes, Fennesz will be a good next step.

Giuseppe Ielasi - Untitled 07 from Aix [12k, 2009]
Quote:Ielasi does something quite remarkable with Aix: he's used all the tricks in his microsound arsenal to fashion warm, strangely jazzy 4/4 music from delicate conrete sound sources.- boomkat

AGF/Delay - Connection from Symptoms [Bptich Control, 2009]
This will be out soon. It promises to be one of the best full-lengths of the year. These two rarely make a misstep! |
