A gift from a mate. Was afraid this might be a bit too electronic for me. It is in parts but not enough to bring it down. There are those dance remixes at the end which murder the originals for me. Other than those, only one track I didn't like. Four that I love with the track Love taking my best. Yes I love Pumped Up Kicks, but the grandkids burnt me out on that. Funny how kids latch onto songs. These kids are 4 and 8 and will just play that song over and over, dancing all around. In that song where they say "faster than my bullet", Garrett (the 4 year old) says they are saying "faster than my brother". Also can't believe in the video for that song that airs on VH1, they edit out the words gun and bullet. Give me a break people. The follow up single of Don't Stop took a while, but I grew to love it also, but I hate the video. Those were the only two tracks I had heard prior to spinning this. The rest holds up better than expected. I guess the album has run its course now, and a follow up to equal it will be a hard task. Pumped Up Kicks peaked at #3 here and the album made #8. The Aussies gave it a #1. Also got a grammy nomination for both album and single. Score here would have come out better without the remixes. They included 'em so I gotta count 'em.

second album by these Kentucky natives...probably the second worst thing to come from Ky, the worst is a person i met whilst over there...LOL!
got this one as one of the freebies in a competition i won in January for correctly predicting the Aust top5 singles for the following week...glad this one was free otherwise i'd have thought i'd have dupped if i bought it!
sort of a cross between grunge and the likes of Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian and Pixies IMO...a total miss-match of sounds that sound messy and noisy, not my thing at all.
the allmighty allmusic pros love this one, giving it a converted 2.4....me, nowhere near this mark!

Not a big fan of these unplugged albums. This is the only one I have. Enjoyed watching them, just feel if that's
how you wanted it recorded, you should have done it that way in the first place. Sort of like when Dylan completely
changes his songs on stage. Not interested. But then I did aquire this one in some way. Think it comes out better
than the other Maniacs I have done. Mainly due to Natalies vocals coming through so much better. Arrangements are
not that much different on most tracks. Love the cover of Patti Smiths Because The Night. Equal to hers which I
like better than Bruce's. Favorite goes to Hey Jack Kerouac, one of my favorites off of their best album, In My
Tribe. This was the last recorded album for the group before Natalie jumped ship. It reached #13 on the U.S. chart.
Not including any clips for these unless they are from that gig.

Speed Yr Trip-God Is My Copilot

This is a hard album to keep up with. It's very much in the tradition of no wave (short songs, cacophony of guitars and drums, etc). I'm actually having a hard time getting into it. Me, the guy who listens to "Trout Mask Replica", free jazz, and drone, can barely make sense of this

THE MARK LANEGAN BAND "BLUES FUNERAL" CD,2012.

probably could have done this as a new release as its only been out for a month or so...but what the hell!
never heard of Mark, but Corey recommended this during my last visit and i got it...
never heard of Mark or his grunge band Screaming Trees, but i know Queens Of The Stoneage, a band for which he fronted as vocalist from 2000-2006,
this is his 7th solo album and around the twentieth of his career.
the album starts off quite slow,atmospheric to the point of being slightly Nick Cave-ish in places, the album then builds up through a mix of indi-pop with a tinge of Led Zep type blues in places also.
i have nothing to compare this one to so i do not know how it compares with his extensive back catalogue, but to me as a single album this is pretty good.
shame about the last track being the only one i do not like as it put a real dampener on the whole affair, and i love the album cover, it would look pretty good on the vinyl release.
