Hey, it's been a while since I've posted on here. Thought I would come back seeing as I've gotten into some new music. I've just recently started listening to Dream Theater on internet radio, and was hoping somebody on here could direct to a good album to start my collection with. Thanks!

I'm not a fan, but the general consensus amongst fans seem to be that "Images and Words" is there magnum opus

I have Falling Into Infinity by DT from 1997. Very good melodic metal prog rock !
Oh by the way (')....Do you think Frank Zappa is worthy of induction into the new MD Hall of Fame ?

For my money, go with "Images and Words" with James LaBrie on vocals.

As I understand Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts. They subsequently dropped out of their studies to further concentrate on the band that would ultimately become Dream Theater. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess until September 8, 2010 when Portnoy left the band. In October 2010, the band held auditions for Portnoy's replacement drummer. Mike Mangini was announced as the new permanent drummer on April 29, 2011.
