Mike Oldfield - Incantations - this album hits some really deep nerve somewhere???? - I find this absolutlely mesmerising. The picture on the cover of the album - that restless ocean scene sums up the music for me. A constantly moving epic audio adventure. Not everyone's cup of tea though.

I had a listen to Opeth for the first time today. Their quietish stuff I actually like quite a lot. Would like to hear an album of just that stuff. But when that demon-sounding vocal appears I switch off. That's when I find it all too predictable.

^ I was exactly the same Jerome, but SteveO convinced me to give Damnation a try, and it's very good indeed...

Jerome & Tiggi I think you will enjoy their new album "Heritage" (to be released Sept. 20). The word is that there will be no "growls/cookie monster/screach/screams/demon-sounding" vocals on the new one. Should be a top notch album (despite the lack of growls, heh heh)!
There is a stream of the first song "The Devil's Orchard" off of the album
HERE. Give it a listen I think you'll enjoy it.

i-Pod listening in the garden this PM.
Second solo album from former head honcho of The Band, released in 1991.
Loosely inspired by the Storyville district of New Orleans, this is a finely-wrought collection of late night songs of generally mellow character.
Robbie's not a great singer, but the quality of the song-writing and playing more than compensate.
Perfect album for relaxing.
AllMusic 4/5 stars.

Try Damnation as Tiggi suggests and also this month Opeth will be reeasing a new album - The Devil's Orchard " which has no death grunts !!! Mikael Aker feldt said this album was influenced by Alice Cooper and Camel !!! Can't wait !

Before Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay went their separate ways,
they birthed a blend of country and folk-rock that, along with the music of the
Byrds, helped to define the sound of a generation.
