Level 42 - The Collection - like the 'Leaving Me Now' track. Some of the others don't sound as good as I remembered them from years ago. After that Talk Talk - The Party's Over - a fave of mine.

Next up is going to be Sade's 'Diamond Life'. The production is slick, the sounds are fantabulous and the girl is just .......(add your own description). A class act if ever there was one. To be followed by Vaya Con Dios, whom I had the privelege of seeing in Cape Town many moons ago. Thx to Charlie for convincing me to go to the concert. I was mesmerised. Ay yai yai yai yai yai - Puerto Rico - classic!http://youtu.be/1ezoHD_FynQ

![]() Latest release, from 2011. My own copy on shiny silver disc. Marianne has never been a technically accomplished singer, but with her advancing years she's become almost the female equivalent of His Bobness, in that what she does bring to the table is a voice soaked in the experience of life, and that voice is a wonderful thing in 2011. Never a strong songwriter either, but as ever her choice of covers is impeccable; The Gutter Twins, R.B. Morris, Jackie Lomax, Lesley Duncan, Goffin & King, The Shangri-Las, & Allen Toussaint. A clutch of decent originals are included, and the whole is a beautifully played, and hugely musical tour de force. Not scored by AllMusic.

Gilded Palace of Sin-Flying Burrito Brothers
A country rock classic. Before I ever heard the stuff Gram Parsons did (solo career, Flying Burrito Brothers, the Byrds) I thought all country was boring twanging redneck rubbish. Boy, did Gram ever prove me wrong
THE LEVELLERS - HEADLIGHTS, WHITE LINES , BLACK TAR RIVERS (BEST LIVE -1996)
![]() I'm on a little Live album kick lately. I discovered this one at my favorite cd store ( CD Heaven) and I am very very glad I did !!!! The Levellers are dynamite to listen to in this live setting featuring tracks from their 1995-96 European Tour. Jon Kelly (executive producer) and the band themselves deserve tremendous praise for one of the best produced live albums I've heard in years ! The sound is clean and crisp similar to a studio album. Rock, alternative rock, English folk, folky punk...it's all here in a highly entertaining uptempo album. Track Listing:
THE LEVELLERS from Brighton, England ( England band again !!! ???)
ALLMUSIC rating - 4/5 I LOVE THIS ALBUM - 5/5

The sound of the rhythm section on this album has to be the closest thing I've heard to the sound at a live gig, where the sound crew know exactly what they're doing. I went to college with their manager !! Great band...
