Don't ask. I don't have a legitimate answer. I was into the Mothers for a period back in the 60's. I snapped out of it. Probably this album snapped me out of it. A little late perhaps, this album being late into Frank's solo career. Never had any Mothers albums. That I remember anyway. Not even sure I have any other Frank Zappa albums. I'm sure some have to be at least decent. This one should have been burnt a long time ago, along with those disco records. Something about disposing of vinyl recordings that my psyche just can't seem to grasp. Thus, Zappa will remain in my rotation for at least another round. Good to see he thought this was a piece of crap too. Greggery Peccary indeed. Need I say more. Some contractual thing was going on at the label, where Frank was trying to get more distribution rights for his work. Four albums were delivered to Discreet Records to fulfill his obligation to them, this among them. Surpised to see the album even made the charts, coming in at #147. Then again, I guess Frank did have a history. If anyone wants this, come and get it. I'm in the heart of the bluegrass. Actually, it's a little below the heart. What would that be, the liver? Liver of the bluegrass just don't sound as good.

not sure why but Zappa has never done nothing i have heard that can relate to??
im ashamed to say it but we beat you here....it got all the way to #92 and spent a whopping 3wks in the charts....but it could have been worse and got to #3 like Aqua did.

Fairly accessible album by the gravelly voiced crooner. Clocks in at over 70 minutes. I love this album.

An incredibly entertaining live album by one of the pioneers of "outlaw country" music. All tracks are excellent. I love this album !

Pauls fourteenth album since the breakup and the first not to achieve at least gold status in the U.S. Not so in the himeland though where the album reached #8. Only a #30 here. Love the cover, like the album. Two standout tracks for me of Footprints and Only Love Remains. However Absurd is the only bad track. Guesting on the album are Pete Townshend, Phil Collins, and 10cc's Eric Stewart who also gets some co-writing credits. Surprised at the lack of Linda's presence here. Think she gets one backing vocal credit. Three different singles failed to have an impact. Re-issues have included five additional tracks bot to be found on my vinyl. Not even hidden tracks, which are hard to hide on vinyl. Them grooves stand out.

without hearing the album again i agree with all of your "*" for the tracks MH, the two you gave "***" are spot on.

maybe Gryphon can correct me if im wrong but i do believe this may be the only Macca album that Linda did not shoot the cover photo??
i believe it was taken on an old 1920's Hasselbladd camera that was popular back in the day...thus giving the retro look on the cover, also the photographer's name slips my mind but he is quite famous in the field of photography.

However Absurd simply baffles me with those stupid lyrics "ears twitch like a dog, breaking eggs in a dish"....i mean WTF?????

Those cameras are still popular. I believe at one point they had a deal that if you were on a professional photoshoot anywhere in the world and your camera packed up, they would get a replacement to you within 24 hrs. ???!!!???
