They were the first progressive rock band and were weirder than the lot of them, which garners them a lot of bad hype from idiots with short attention spans. They're a great band, though.

As stated above, plus:

- Massive band in early 70s. Arena fillers of their day.

- 40-odd years as a band, with a similar number of line-up changes, with one constant in genius guitarist Robert Fripp, although line-up has stabilised somewhat in recent years.

- Music has a tendency toward the avant-garde, but early stuff is quite beautiful. Early music bears no resemblance to their recent output.

- They're one band of virtuosos that I actually like.

- Fripp owns the back catalog, and has also released vast swathes of live albums from the band's vaults.

The Beatles - Revolver

This frequently tops those "Best Album of All Time" polls (I know, I know !!). Don't think it's that good, but it is a very good example of why The Beatles were so damn groovy :attention:.
