I like this album,,,it was my first exposure to CCR !!!! John's singing on I Put a Spell on You is astounding !!! Other favorites are Suzie Q and Walk on the Water !!!! CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:![[Image: 6146W2EKxqL._SL500_AA300_.jpg]](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/6146W2EKxqL._SL500_AA300_.jpg)
CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL "creedence clearwater revival",cd, 2008(from the seven studio album boxset)
this is the debut set by the Fogerty Brothers and Co, and possibly the worst of their seven albums, that doesnt mean it is a bad album but it only just makes the "like" rating for me,
very little here to shout about...nothing great, but also nothing bad, just a steady album of OK tracks in which CCR are obviously still finding their feet and musical direction. i think that this is not as good as any of John's solo albums thus so far, so it is not a good starting point to investigate the legend that has become CCR.
i can only recommend getting this one to complete your CCR collection or as part of the CCR 7 studio album boxset(which is probably the best value).
rating 1.7

Bleak and astonishingly beautiful. This is one of the most profound feats of music ever recorded, very much needs to be heard to be believed

Wrapping up this 3 cd set of studio albums from this Australian group. This turns out the best of the 3, and would have rated higher if not for the final 4 live tracks which are duplicates of previous tracks. Wasted data. Not even sure the cheering and applause is not just inserted. Anyway, throw out them 4 and you have a pretty good album. Three tracks made the top grade, Blue Horizon, Wild Street Girl and Tin Gods. I have concluded Joe Camilleri sounds like either Elvis C, Van Morrison, or Garland Jeffreys, depending on the song. Music is sort of Springsteenish. This was the groups fourth album and the first to go top 20 in the homeland. Never made a dent here as far as I can tell. Daughters Of Glory, Maybe Tomorrow, and The Lat Frontier were all singles off of here, none my favorites. The highest charting of those was Daughters Of Glory. This will end my exploration of the group, with a summation of not great but not bad.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
Worst Track - Daughters Of Glory (live)
Best Track - Blue Horizon
Love takes a fatal turn
Some thing you never learn
Truth comes cold and silently
Was I foolish to believe
In the last reprieve
Time is a ruthless enemy
Played out that legendary scene
No miracles in between
The heart of the desperate hours
How does it feel out on the reef
Let me spare you the grief
But you can take these withered flowers
The tide must prevail
What will be will be
Go ahead and save yourself
You cannot rescue me
Blue horizon bittersweet summer wine
Blue horizon my tragic valentine

i concur with the Elvis, Van simillarities MH....they became more Van Morrison like as their career grew...
the live tracks were not on the original album release, must be part of the reissue series to promote extra sales i guess?!
score sheet so far of my gifts to you:
1 dislike
so i guess thats pretty good IMO!
cant remember if you mentioned it on a previous post of Black Sorrows, but these guys are still touring here, but only Joe is the remaining original member....guess he is an awkward bastard to work for????

john fogerty "eye of the zombie" cd, 1986.... #73 US, #17 AU.
cant recall how many albums this one is into his solo career(probably #5 or 6ish im guessing?)...
firstly, there are two things wrong with this album:
1) he uses those horrible nasty 1980s synths,
2) on "soda pop" he sounds more like Prince than the CCR legend!...just takes time to get your head around this different style.
other than those two little hiccups and one instrumental this is a fine album, "violence is golden" and "change in the weather" tread dangerously close to Crazy Horse ground(but in a good way!)
the rest of the album is typical Fogerty...and we all know he is a master songwriter even on a bad day!
the title track reached #30 here in Oz, whilst only reaching #81 in the US, and with the album charting a lot higher here also, i guess John Fogerty had a stronger fanbase here than on his home soil.
all in all a fine album that borders the like/love rating.

Roger Waters - Radio KAOS. Great album - one he should really have expanded on a bit more. Great production too!
