as i was doing my usual surfing the 'www' last night a came across a young 16yo from Quebec,Canada.
now i dont claim to know anything about 'jazz' even though i like nina simone and etta james, so im not going to say that Nikki Yanofsky is a great little jazz vocalist because i dont know!, but she does have a lot of talent and can sing very maturely for a teenager.
i have put a few links here, please check them out and give me your opinion of her:nod:

apparently Nikki has headlined the Montreal International Jazz Festival for the last 2 years and performed there since 2007(aged 13).
also released a Ella Fitzgerald 'tribute album' a year or so ago.
im about to put her on my 'wish list' for xmas, dont think i'll get all the vouchers to cover what i want so this one may come out of my pocket in the new year.

CH - Thx for the introduction to this young lady's music. What I find so mesmerising, is the fact that she is in absolute control of her voice. And she has the ability to fade in and out of the music, put a different twist on well-known standards by changing the pitch of key words and you can tell by her performance and temperament that the whole fame thing has not gone to her head. One amazing talent. And she senses when to let other vocalists/musicians have their space in the music. Great insight for someone so young. Maybe she is being guided but I sense she is way ahead of any of her advisors. Bloody brilliant.

agree totally with what you say Jerome, her vocal technique is way ahead of her age of 16.
has everyone else missed this thread??? because no-one else seems to be commenting on Nikki's talent
