What Are You Listening To?
from my library (vinyl)

Probably the best album the guy had. His third, with his biggest hit of Dream Weaver. Amazing how far a hit can take you. Nothing against the guy. His keyboard only music just got rather shrilly after awhile. Or was that his voice? Not sure. I do love that hit plus another and with only one total dud, it comes out passing. The album went to #7 stateside, with both of the singles I love peaking at #2.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Power Of Love

Best Track - Dream Weaver

I've just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the dream weaver train
Driver take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind

Ooooh, dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooooh, dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light

Fly me high through the starry skies
Maybe to an astral plane
Cross the highways of fantasy
Help me to forget todays pain

Ooooh, dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooooh, dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light

Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side

Ooooh, dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooooh, dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light

Haven't got round to it yet but I can tell you it is by far my favourite Boss album. It's incredibly introspective and pretty close to what he did on Nebraska. To me it basically represents 'honest' songwriting. Don't care much for his louder stuff. Prefer the Boss when he's quiet. Far more powerful.

Although having said that he does a howling version of 'Youngstown' on some live album I am have of his somewhere.

That is strange.
Nebraska being your fav and Tom Joad your least fav.
I sort of agree with Jerome, in that I thought they were similar in style.

Might be wrong here but I thought he actually spent some time doing research with homeless people and living on the road in order to get the songs together. This might just be urban myth - not sure.

I am no good at writing reviews. You have to be unbiased for that and I am anything but. Having said that the one I ended up enjoying the most was Supertramp/Paris. Not surprising since it is a sort 'best of' live. Just had a look at their current tour on YT and they are still going well. Stuck to their guns and didn't try this 'let's reinvent ourselves' crap. Favourite tracks were 'A Soapbox Opera' & 'Fool's Overture'. End of interview! Will be sending bill shortly.

I think you underestimate yourself
but well done.

I'd have gone with Bruce or Kate.

Like Johnny Cash? All talkey-talk and no walkey-walk. TGOTJ is one of those albums you just have to be in the right frame of mind for. Like around an open campfire - that sort of thing. Afterglow music.
