Had not heard this band before. Glad I have now. Very promising. Every song I play, I hear someone else, which is a good thing to me. You can't peg 'em. Canadian band formed in 2005 with their second album. Have toured with Weezer and Angels & Airwaves. Nothing was really great for me here, but I like most of it. One that would surely get better with plays. Breakneck Speed is the first single.

Another from Robbie.

This is rather good. More Alt-Americana (Banjos, accordians, double-bass, that sort of thing) with a pretty distinctive sound.

Lots of religious imagery in the lyrics, used in much the way that Nick Cave does.

Thumbs up.

The music is beautiful, the lyrics are like poetry. Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale & I'll Be Your Mirror are my favorite songs. They are very relaxing. I just love the whole album really :-D

Oregon band formed in 2000 with their 5th album, although the first 3 were self released. The last one earned a nod from Sub Pop who signed them up. Influences are many with a prog rock sound here. Wasn't really anything I thought was bad, with a couple of near great tracks. First I've heard of these guys and very promising.

Another slice of Alt-Country borrowed from Robbie.

After a royal bitch of a day at work, this didn't make much of an impression at first. I think this was more about my mood than the music.

By the end, Son Volt had won me over convincingly.

This is a good album.

Third album from L.A. band formed in 1999. Have toured with Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Weezer and the Strokes. Touring again this summer opening for Hanson. I'll give you those touring partners don't stack up to favorably. A few songs weren't that bad though. An appearance on The O.C. boosted the sales of the last album. There were more bad tracks than good ones here. I'll pass. Maybe kerry will like it.

Third album from Vermont based band who are getting a lot of attention in the northeast. A blend of retro sounds come together, with their songs appearing on various tv shows (All My Children, One Tree Hill, Brothers & Sisters, ER and Greys Anatomy. Have toured with Black Crows and Dave Matthews Band. They do White Rabbit on the Alice In Wonderland soundtack. Tiny Light is the first single. Most of these live clips are not representative of the album version. You know, that production thing.

L.A. based freak-folk (whatever that is) musician Ariel Rosenberg with his 9th album. First for me. Claiming the Cure as his favorite band, too bad this isn't close. Although he has been recording since 2004, a full fledged band didn't emerge until 2008. I guess this is the second album with that lineup. Round And Round is the first single.
