The Stuff of Thought - Language as a Window Into Human Nature - by Steven Pinker
I don't know much about linguistics so this isn't a quick read for me but really very intriguing so enjoyable.

![]() Bio of the legendary seductress Monica Lewinsky. It goes pretty fast through the early years of course, and only gets in depth from when she got the intern job at the White House. Gets pretty detailed as far as the sexual encounters with the President. The book is mostly sympathetic to Monica, laying the blame on anyone they can. Never mind her history of another relationship with another married man. Poor Monica. A very well written book, but I'm a sucker for most bios. About half of this book made absolutely no sense to me. Come to find out (wiki), part of it is written in a style called stream of consciousness. I don't know what that means, other than, it's stupid. Sentences that run for pages and pages, with no punctuation, and no dialogue. The book is about a southern family at the turn of the century and how their reputation is being destroyed, by the raising of a severely handicapped boy, and the antics of a teenage girl. Mostly enjoyed the dialogue bewtween the black servants, which is hard to read, but once you mentally put yourself in that environment, it gradually falls into place. But that first part I mentioned was a real bitch to read. Grade - C next up - Queen Elizabeth II: A Woman Who Is Not Amused by Nicholas Davies

I used to be a real avid reader when I was younger but fell out of it for a number of years. Currently reading a very interesting book about the psychic who helped solve the Soham murders back in 2001. Provides a real insight into his work & he is definitely not your typical medium. Highly recommend to anyone it is that good!
