Tough call. Their best songs are pretty well spread-out across all albums. I'll have to think about it.

Has to be Hotel California for me. It may not contain much of the charm of their earlier work, but it was a bold step IMV, and the songs are mostly killers.

There was a thread in MD Mk. 1 about the meaning of the song Hotel California, it got quite interesting...

Being the New Kid In Town, and not being accustomed to Life In The Fast Lane, I will check in to the Hotel california, even though if you set me up with Pretty Maids All In A Row, I will probably just consider it Wasted Time and become another Victim Of Love, but I will Try And Love Again, although it may be at The Last Resort.

Heck no! Not only do I think it's the best Eagles album, I think it's one of the best albums of all time. Probably top 10.
