seriously Linda....
do you really think the US is the only country with crime and so called 'outlaws'....
WE ALL have crime on our streets but WE don't all have millions of people who carry them or own them and our crime rates are well and truly below those of the US...
simple reason is: less guns = less crime, more guns = more crime....its really that simple
the more people who have guns, the more people want them.
and lets go back to your Chicago statement.....
tight gun controls, yet lots of killings....
how many of those killings are done by good Samaritans helping out others against the bad guys???????
and "stops us defending ourselves".....
defending yourselves against what or whom????.....
and....
lawlessness in the US(as you quoted)....
why is there lawlessness in the US?
who created it?
and....
how do you see it becoming 'civilised' and a 'peaceful, law abiding society".
I can tell you now, the majority of the world including the allied countries do not think of the US as "the land of the free" "home of the brave" or "a country to aspire to" regardless of what the American media/politicians may have told you over the your lifetime...
the US to the majority of the world is in a constant state or war, civil war infact because it is a civilian war that is happening.
your wages are lower than the rest of the Western World and you have a healthcare system that is not 'free', not supported by Government to whom you pay taxes, and on top of that....
you have the highest murder rates of ALL the Western countries...
in the words of JFK...."ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country"
which loosely translated really means...we give you nothing,we take it all and if youre lucky we'll throw you a morsel, but don't forget, this is the land of the brave and the free"!
