US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 19.02.25 #21

THE TOP TEN:

SZA and Kendrick are up twelve spots to 10 with '30 For 30,' and Chappell Roan's 'Pink Pony Club' has joined the top ten club at 9. Shaboozey's 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' has a loss to 8, and so does 'APT' at 7. Billie Eilish is at 6 with 'Birds Of A Feather' as Kendrick has yet another climber with 'Sqaubble Up' at 5. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars fall off the No. 1 with 'Die With A Smile' hitting 4. Kendrick Lamar and Lefty Gunplay save their top ten spot as they rise seven to 3. 'Luther' achieves a new peak of 2, but it's not enough to beat Kendrick Lamar's smash Drake diss 'Not Like Us,' which goes up 14 spots to number one for its 3rd week there, thanks to Kendrick's Super Bowl performance.

NEW ENTRIES:

68. Born Again—LISA/RAYE/Doja Cat (6/10)

Tell me why the same women who dressed up as Satan and made a whole era demonic are on a song with LISA and RAYE telling you to pray to Jesus?? This must be a joke. I suppose this'll feature on LISA'S upcoming album, and thankfully, because it's the first good single from her I've heard and Doja and RAYE both had better parts, it's giving a more 2000s to 2010s pop twist, and the rapping is giving a modern era mix. This doesn't explore new boundaries too much, but it's definitely a good step to stretch out in music while keeping their original fanbase.

61. Ordinary - Alex Warren (4/10)

Not only is this the same thing Alex has been creating over and over, but it's also super dull. I just don't get how you can make something this lacking in originality… His ideas are running out as an artist, and this shows. I'm hugely disappointed.

55. Twenties - Giveon (7.4/10)

It sounds as if SZA was a male artist. I first heard of Giveon when he collaborated with Teddy Swims on 'Are You Even Real.' It turns out he has many views before this, though, with his most popular YouTube video amassing 437M views at the time of writing, and this sounds promising for anyone who came for the realness felt by him on the Teddy Swims collab; the heartbreak is expressed well and feels correctly approached. Keep up the good work!

RE ENTRIES:

96. Push 2 Start—Tyla
[Don't care for this]

93. The Greatest—Billie Eilish
[Good song]

[There's better country music, not bad though.]

[Overrated]

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 25.02.25 #22

TOP TEN:

Drake is new at ten with 'Nokia,' and Shaboozey is down to nine with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).' Billie Eilish slips to 8 with 'Birds Of A Feather' as ROSÉ and Bruno stay put at 7 with 'APT.' The highest song from PND and Drake's new album is 'GIMME A HUG,' new at 6, and up above is Drake's rival Kendrick Lamar with 'Sqaubble Up' at 5 and 'TV Off' at 4. Gaga and Bruno slightly rebound with 'Die With A Smile' back in the top three. 'Not Like Us' falls off the number one for Kendrick Lamar, and now taking the number one for the first time is 'Luther,' becoming Kendrick's 6th number one single and SZA's second.

NEW ENTRIES:

87. Bad Reviews—Sabrina Carpenter (2/10)

85. Por Esos Ojos - Fuerza Regida (5.1/10)
Previous listen:

Listening to Fuerza Regida has begun to feel like a chore; it's the same damn thing every time!!

Added:

On the second listen, it's still the bare minimum generic sounds you expect from the band.

84. Couldn't Make it any Harder—Sabrina Carpenter (6/10)

83. GLORIOUS—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (1/10)

74. OMW—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (1.5/10)

73. When He's Gone—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (2/10)

70. Greedy—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (5/10)

67. 15 Minutes—Sabrina Carpenter (4/10)

66. Celibacy—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (2/10)

63. Meet Your Padre - PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake/Chino Pacas (0.5/10)

60. Lasers - PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (0.5/10)

47. Brian Steel—Drake (3/10)

45. - Pimmie's Dilemma - Pimmie/PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (4/10)

43. Raining In Houston—Drake (3/10)

40. Small Town Fame—Drake (3.5/10)

37. Crying In Chanel—Drake (2/10)

35. Spider Man-Superman—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (3/10)

31. Deeper—PARTYNEXTDOOR (3.5/10)

30. Somebody Loves Me—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (1.8/10)

This was so lame that it pissed me off. PARTYNEXTDOOR has the worst verse with autotune that drowned his voice, and Drake's verse shows that he will only make a good song when his career is at stake. This served as one of Drake's most boring vocal performances ever that lacks anything to boost the song. The beat will make you tired in one listen. It takes you back to level one production that doesn't match what else is happening. They'll put it out anyway, though, because there are low-quality artists, contenders for the worst song of 2025. This is utter garbage.

29. Moth Balls - PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (3/10)

27. Busy Woman—Sabrina Carpenter (2/10)

I really don't want to review another Carpenter song, but here we go. It's like something you would expect on Short N Sweet, and if you know me, then you'll know I didn't like the main singles on that album, and now is not the time to change up. This is still the same bland pop corporate push-out that's only released to further boost her name, rubbish. Oh, and fun fact, I didn't review it on New Music Friday due to the original apparently being released in August 2024.

26. Something About You—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (1.1/10)

21. Die Trying—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake/Yebba (5/10)

18. CN Tower—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake (2/10)

THIS IS SO PEAK... Peak disappointment, this sounds like a filler; if this is one of the most popular songs on the album, then we have issues because what even was this?! It was just some jumbled slop with no flow and no control at all.

10. Nokia - Drake (6.4/10)

Nearly a promotable song, it feels like more could be done, but it still has that hook and groovy beat, and of course keeping the beat flavourful.

6. Gimme A Hug—Drake (6.9/10)

Good beat switch but a bad shy away Kendrick reference; this got better as it went in, though, and overall the hard hit in the middle was the most enjoyable part. Feels like a single you could promo.

RE ENTRIES:

100. Juno - Sabrina Carpenter
[It'll be out by next week, thankfully.]

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 4.03.25 #23

TOP TEN:

Kendrick Lamar is down five spots to 10 with 'Sqaubble Up,' which opens the gap for 'Lose Control' to jump three spots up to 9. Chappell Roan's 'Pink Pony Club' is becoming the next big song at 8. Billie Eilish is still in the top ten with 'Birds Of A Feather' at 7, which sits below 'APT.' at 6. 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' has a surge from 9 to 5. Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl performance is still having effects on the chart with 'TV Off' at 4 and 'Not Like Us' at 3. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars continue their climb up the chart with 'Die With A Smile' up to 2, and taking the number one for its second consecutive week is 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

NEW ENTRIES:

99. Greenlight—Tate McRae (9/10)

90. Like I Do—Tate McRae (7/10)

89. Little Things—Ella Mai (6.4/10)

I heard this a while back as part of Ella Mai's E.P. '3.' It's now four months later, and this has charted, and I'm not complaining. It reminds me of 'Heart Of A Woman' or something that reminds me of older style Beyoncé, with its 2000s R&B sound. I really like it; it's not special to me or marking anything new, but we haven't heard this in a while, and I'm very much open to hearing this sound more.

83. LV Bag—Don Toliver/J-Hope/Pharrell Williams/Speedy (3/10)

The majority of people only seem to come to this song because a solo BTS member features on it (J-Hope), and when I saw this collaboration, I immediately knew that this was a one-way ride to failure; yes, it's rap crap. The only person's essence I detect in this is Don Toliver, who manages to spill his autotuned crap over the whole song and ruin it. I legit don't get how people can take him seriously; you can't even hear what he's saying in the song.

75. ExtraL - JENNIE/Doechii (4/10)

Doechii is a great rapper but always fails miserably when it comes to a feature, and working with JENNIE is a recipe for disaster, especially with the past few singles showing disaster too. I don't necessarily know what's bad about this; it just doesn't do anything for me. It's not something I can easily connect to, and Doechii doesn't pack a flavour punch like she does on her solo songs.

74. Signs—Tate McRae (8/10)

69. Clouds—J. Cole (6/10)

The first time I've rated something this high by J. Cole, which is good for him after he was making flop music for so long, this definitely feels more down-to-earth and something that Kendrick might make, although Lamar would add a crazy beat.

64. Bloodonmyhands—Tate McRae/Flo Milli (8/10)

58. Call me when you break up—Selena Gomez/Benny Blanco/Gracie Abrams (2.1/10).

From the last single, this was so predictable; Selana and Gracie deliver a run-of-the-mill vocal performance with a really cheesy music video. And to top the disappointment, I found out in a month we will get a Selena and Benny album. I waited all this time for a Gomez project that could possibly be her last one, and then she delivers two singles that are poop and a massive dump on the music industry. The background is way too uninspired and is as basic as basic can be. You would've gotten more of a smile out of me if you had inserted a fart sound into the song.

54. Miss Possessive—Tate McRae (8.5/10)

53. Purple Lace Bra—Tate McRae (7.5/10)

44. Dear God—Tate McRae (8.2/10)

43. I Know Love—Tate McRae/The Kid Laroi (5.5/10)

22. Revolving Door—Tate McRae (6/10)

Lots of love to Tate, but this is one of the weakest songs on her album. There were so many better choices she could've chosen as a main single, but she chose Revolving Door?! I don't get a world where this would make sense; this song sounds like a filler that would've fit on THINK LATER. I mean, it fits on this album too, but not that well. It has no catch to it at all, and the so-called chorus or hook has the exact same momentum as the start of the song. There's no build-up; it's just right in front of you, which is pretty boring if you ask me. Weak single.

RE ENTRIES:

100. Weren't For The Wind—Ella Langley
[It's ok.]

93. Backseat Driver—Kane Brown
[I still don't care much about this]

82. Headlock—Imogen Heap
[I'm shocked the trend is still lasting.]

81. Me Jalo - Fuerza Regida/Grupo Frontera
[These acts get boring very easily.]

76. 2 Hands—Tate McRae
[Not even in the top half of the album]

NOTEABLE CHANGES:

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 11.03.25 #23

THE TOP TEN:

Drake is repeating at ten with 'Nokia,' which is just below 'Lose Control' at 9. 'Pink Pony Club' is still at 8, 'Birds Of A Feather' is still at 7, and 'APT.' is still at 6. 'A Bar Song' spends its 47th charting week at 5 as 'TV Off' spends its 15th charting week at 4. 'Not Like Us' is another top ten entry for Kendrick at 3, and 'Die With A Smile' sticks at 2 for another week. But taking number one for its 3rd week in a row is 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

NEW ENTRIES:

85. TATTOO - Tito Double P (5/10)

Has Tito Double P made anything that's slightly different from his previous songs? No. Is it worth your time? No. That's enough questions, NEXT!

56. Mrs. Whitman - Bhad Bharbie (1/10)

How about we don't promote this and not let it go YouTube trending number one? Flipping heck, female rappers really have to push the exact same message as each other, and they still chart! We had Ceechynaa, Sexxy Red, and more on the chart; we don't need another mindless fool messing up the chart. We really had to start the song with the same intro from Kanye West's 'Carnival.' I did not want to be reminded of that song in 2025 or even Kanye as a person, and then Bhad Bhabie starts rapping, and wow… she's awful, she's worse than Ice Spice, she's not saying anything meaningful and instead piling dirt upon dirt with a flow that sounds like she's an amateur trying to copy some rap TikTok trend. And what even is that artist's name? Bhad bhabie?! I'm going to do everything in my willpower to not give this song any more attention; let's hope it falls out next week.

45. Anxiety—Sleeping Hallow/Doechii (8/10)

And now the famous segment we all know and love is in a song, and Doechii nailed this too! The rest of the song kept the same level of sound, which I really enjoyed, and her vocals were soft and smooth, which was relaxing despite what she was rapping about. In the end, Anxiety sounds like it could be going places; social media should really pick this up!

44. Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else—Benson Boone (5.5/10)

Rare Benson Boone L. As Benson was one of my most streamed artists ever and 95% of the time creates something I enjoy, I was very much excited (to say the least) about this upcoming new era, and the opening single will set the tone for how I'm going to feel. To keep it short and real, Benson played it safe and did exactly what he's been doing before but even worse, and the lyrics feel like they took a downgrade. The lyrics are like a page out of someone's diary about some cringe interaction with a waitress serving fries. Come on, Benson, what is this?? Is it due to the industry's high demand of quickly pushing out singles because this feels rushed and so damn boring that there's no room to have any new ideas of what Benson may be doing in the future with his music, move on, make something new, or at least up to quality like your previous hit singles?
