US HOT 100 SUMMARY & REVIEW 31.12.24 #14
THE TOP TEN:
At 10, Nat 'King' Cole joins the top ten with 'The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas)'. Kelly Clarkson is 'Underneath The Tree' at 9, and Dean Martin's 'Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!' lands at 8. Andy Williams claims 7 with 'It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year,' while Burl Ives drops to 6 with 'A Holly Jolly Christmas.' Ariana Grande makes a sneaky climb from 9 to 5 with 'Santa Tell Me.' Holding steady at 4 is 'Jingle Bell Rock,' and 'Last Christmas' stays firm at 3. Brenda Lee’s 'Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree' remains at 2 for another week, while Mariah Carey bags her 18th week at Billboard No. 1 with 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' placing her just one week behind the all-time record for most No. 1 weeks!
---
NEW ENTRIES:
89 - Santa Baby - Laufey (6/10)
Previous listen: Covering the early 1950s classic, 'Santa Baby' has a playful twist and works well as a background song for the holiday season. Laufey’s jazz-pop rendition showcases her versatile style, and it’s something I quite like!
88 - Holiday Road - Kesha (4/10)
Previous listen: Its repetitive pop style feels dull, lacking that Christmassy vibe. There’s nothing to hook you in, and it comes off as a cheap replacement for songs like 'Underneath the Tree.' While not a complete failure, 'Holiday Road' is just plain bad.
81 - My Turn - SZA (7/10)
80 - Chill Baby - SZA (5.5/10)
79 - Love Me 4 Me - SZA (6/10)
78 - Run Rudolph Run - Mark Ambor (6/10)
Previous listen: I appreciate Mark experimenting with something different from his Rockwood album. His take on 'Run Rudolph Run' uses upbeat guitar strumming to create a faster-paced, chill atmosphere that works well. A solid release and, surprisingly, the first Spotify single I’ve liked from him!
73 - Another Life - SZA (6/10)
71 - Kitchen - SZA (5/10)
70 - Cry Baby - SZA (6/10)
69 - No More Hiding - SZA (6.5/10)
64 - What Do I Do - SZA (5/10)
63 - Scorsese Baby Daddy - SZA (6/10)
62 - Diamond Boy (DTM) - SZA (5/10)
59 - Drive - SZA (5/10)
Previous listen: A deep yet lighter acoustic R&B ballad, but it fails to meet the standard of a deluxe SOS track. It’s alright, but honestly, it feels like a "meh" option to push as a single and doesn’t reflect the best side of SOS.
55 - BMF - SZA (7/10)
50 - You Make It Feel Like Christmas - Gwen Stefani/Blake Shelton (7.5/10)
Previous listen: Love it!
Off-topic, but this was released in September 2017 (seriously, who drops a Christmas song in September?! Psycho.). At least it’s a feel-good track that reminds me of 'You’re Christmas To Me,' but more instrumental and toned down. Gwen’s vocals and Blake’s harmonies blend beautifully to create a seasonal pop classic.
48 - Winter Wonderland - Darlene Love (7/10)
I’m so glad this entered! This classic from Darlene’s Christmas album is jolly and energetic—perfect for any Christmas party. A great song.
45 - 30 For 30 - SZA/Kendrick Lamar (5/10)
Previous first listen: Featured on SZA’s Lana album, this marks yet another collaboration with Kendrick. Unfortunately, it’s boring. Their chemistry feels stale, and the track comes across as toned-down and disappointing. The hype around it feels unwarranted.
43 - Snowman - Sia (8.5/10)
Released in 2017 as part of her Everyday Is Christmas album, I can confidently say this is one of the best Christmas songs ever. I can’t believe it just entered now! The song’s soft, dreamy vibe fits perfectly with winter scenes, and its production is flawless. Sia’s vocal control is masterful, making this a holiday staple.
37 - Holly Jolly Christmas - Michael Bublé (6/10)
The way Bublé sings 'Holly Jolly Christmas' makes me laugh—it reminds me of something I can’t quite put my finger on. While it’s cheerful, it’s not a Christmas favorite for me. I prefer Burl Ives’ version, which feels more classic and stylish.

RE-ENTRIES:
49 - Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season - Andy Williams
[Not a fan.]
42 - Mistletoe - Justin Bieber

38 - Merry Christmas - Ed Sheeran/Elton John
[Memorable 100%.]
36 - Baby It’s Cold Outside - Dean Martin

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 14.01.25 #16
THE TOP TEN:
'Espresso' is sipping on cold tea as it's down to 10. Post and Morgan take a fall to 9 with 'I Had Some Help,' as 'That's So True' is down to 8. Staying put at 7 is Kendrick and SZA's 'Luther,' which has 'Lose Control' right above it. ROSÉ and Bruno's 'APT.' is still at 5, while Morgan Wallen makes a quick jump from 27 to 4 with 'Smile.' Billie is still at 3 with 'Birds Of A Feather,' and Shaboozey is still at 2 with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).' Now going for its second week in a row at the peak is 'Die With A Smile' by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
NEW ENTRIES:
99 - Free Promo - Lil Baby (6/10)
95 - La Mudanza - Bad Bunny (6.5/10)
It's a. Fair album ending that incorporates Bad Bunny's style well but fails to show a hook.
94 - Lo Que Le Paso A Hawaii - Bad Bunny (5/10)
You know, the beat and all is fine, and the synthesiser works great with it, and a closer listen shows the full talent. BUT WHY THE HECK DID THE SONG HAVE A CHICKEN DOODLE-DOO SCREECH?! I haven't mentioned it, but throughout the album, there have been little annoying noises, but this straight-up was weird as hell... On a serious note, this was pretty boring, though.
86 - Stiff Gang - Bad Bunny (5/10)
83 - Cafe Con Ron - Bad Bunny/Los Pleneros de la cresta (7.5/10)
THIS WAS CLEAN!! The tambourine and drums were so fitting to this, and it worked amazingly!! I rate this high!
77 - Turista - Bad Bunny (7/10)
I like how this felt more in-depth to the album and leaned into a more emotional scene; it really made me start listening more to it! The use of the lighter guitar in there is different from his usual but blends in well to make a heartbreaking, emotional hook. It's recommended from me!
76 - Denial Is A River - Doechii (9/10)
Sooooo.. I just watched a 10-minute Genius video on this song, and the story's really interesting: how she balances humour into really serious parts of her life and makes them into an entertaining sitcom-style song that sounds like nothing else! It's not only that but also heavily thought behind it, and each bar has personality rushing through it, what a rap song should be!
74 - So Sorry - Lil Baby (5.5/10)
73 - Due 4A Win - Lil Baby (4.5/10)
71 - I Promise Lil Baby (4/10)
69 - Bokete - Bad Bunny (6/10)
Yeah... every single one is becoming a 6; this has a beat that matches Bad Bunny but feels more plain than a dreamy chocolate bar. There needs to be a switch in the music.
66 - Kloufrens - Bad Bunny (6/10)
It continues well from the past songs and fits the album's storyline; it all just feels super basic to Bunny's reggaeton vibes. I feel this is when the album starts to get even more boring and makes you tune off.
65 - Listen Up - Lil Baby (3.5/10)
59 - Ketu Tecre - Bad Bunny (6/10)
It uses a looped beat and sounds like the past few tracks; nothing new here.
57 - F U 2x - Lil Baby (2.5/10)
54 - Eoo - Bad Bunny (6.5/10)
This had more electro depth to that and felt like some of his best-performing electro singles. I see why some people would call this a favourite!! Great track!!
53 - Redbone - Lil Baby/Glorilla (5/10)
52 - Weltita - Bad Bunny/Chuwi (6/10)
After three listens, this is still a 6. It's like the album but toned down in creativity and feels like a less thought-out version. Even the feature is just mid due to the lack of hooks on the song that keep you in. It has those backbeats of drum-like hits and a pulse, but it still doesn't get you in a state that music should. It's good because I can tell it's a real beat that works, but it feels like they stopped at that mark.
51 - Stuff - Lil Baby/Travis Scott (4/10)
It's autotuned, flex crap r*p, and nothing else. I don't even think I have to say more, apart from the fact that the song choices are so basic; everything about this was copy and paste from any rap cr*p.
50 - Outfit - Lil Baby/21 Savage (6/10)
45 - Perfumito Nuevo - Bad Bunny (6.5/10)
Rainao's part added well to Bad Bunny's, and the track felt quite fitting to the previous songs in the album, nothing too special though.
44 - By Myself - Lil Baby/Rylo Rodriguez/Rod Wave (6.5/10)
43 - Velda - Bad Bunny/Omar Courtz/Dei V (6/10)
Continuing into the "club scene" lyrics, this feels like it needs more spice, a kick, some energy!! With lyrics this fun, there needs to be more energy, louder drums, etc. This song has none of that, sadly, and while it remains decent, it's just not my thing.
38 - DTMF - Bad Bunny (7/10)
Engaging and relevant, it really brings out a new side of the album.
36 - Voy A Llevarte Pa PR - Bad Bunny (6/10)
It's a speedy club song that incorporates club lyrics of being with a girl; the problem for me is that it doesn't get the timings right and feels rushed in many ways. The beat is too basic for me and also lacks character to build the song. I give it a 6 because it still has a club side that fits a club scene acceptably.
29 - Tweaker - G3 (LiAngelo Ball) (5/10)
The US rapper G3 has had a breakthrough with 'Tweaker.' It sounds like he's tried to combine some old-school rap along with more autotune from the modern day, sounding like something Usher would fit on back in the day. It's quite different in sound compared to regular rap music, but it's just not good. It has a hook to capture a unique fanbase, which I respect, and I believe this has potential, but it's not for me.
28 - BAILE INoLVIDABLE - Bad Bunny (8/10)
I really like how he used the traditional samba-like beat (I believe it's a samba) and high-pitched noises (Gonna be honest... I really can't find what they're called). But they sound AMAZING and bring a new layer to the track; it sounds traditional yet something to play in a club, and that's the incredible work Bad Bunny can do! A gem of a track, there's so much to unwrap here!
27 - Nuevayol - Bad Bunny (8/10)
Amazing! What an album start! It's creative and showcases Bunny's ability to create an earworm of a song while still keeping a level of uniqueness to the song, from voice changes to a pumping beat, all the way to his artistic roots. This is an absolute banger of a song! Highly recommended.
16 - Dum Dumb and Dumber - Lil Baby/Young Thug/Future (8/10)
This has the flow of a hit rap song and brings in every rapper. I truly feel the vibe on this and think it has big potential. As someone who's not the biggest rap fan, I can confidently say this is amazing. The beats have more elements than your usual and feel like they went all out on this. It’s also quite autotuned, which is a huge change, and I actually like something of that nature!
