NEW MUSIC FRIDAY 10.01.25 #14

NUEVAYOL - Bad Bunny (8/10)
Amazing! What an album start! It's creative and showcases Bunny's ability to create an earworm of a song while still keeping it unique. From voice changes to a pumping beat, all the way to his artistic roots, this is an absolute banger of a track! Highly recommended.

Are You Even Real - Teddy Swims/Giveon (5/10)
This sounds way too boring to be pushed as a single on I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2). It's really a letdown after waiting for the full album. Now, I don't know Giveon, but he sounds like Victor Ray, and his vocals are alright, as are Teddy's. The problem is that this song only showcases good singing but lacks artistry. The hook isn't effective, and as someone who's heard a lot of Swims, this is a massive drop from his usual work. Teddy, are you even real?? How can you release this! It sounds like a mid-level filler song with quieter, ASMR-type vocals. Here's an idea—maybe you can become one of those ASMR creators on TikTok Live.

5 Dollar Pony Rides - Mac Miller (4/10)
I tried listening to this countless times in different environments and came to the conclusion that people are only rating him high because he passed away. Since his death, on rating sites like AOTY, all his new albums have been labeled as "must-hear" and rated much higher. To be honest, this track is just bad. I'm never one to rate out of sympathy, but this sounds like an experimental studio draft—worthless and forgettable.

Hypnotised - Anyma/Ellie Goulding (6/10)
First of all, the music video was creepy as hell. Second, it's actually a solid track! A blend of electronic chemistry that Ellie was made for. An artist named Anyma (who I presume is a producer since only Ellie sings) features here. The production is solid, but the issue is that there's no standout element to make this a gem. It's really just a simple electronic pop song.

99 - Lil Baby/Future (5.5/10)
The album it came from might be considered mid by many, but for me, this track was the perfect length (1:52). These rappers pull off autotune and beats much better than a wide range of others.

IT Girl - JADE (2.5/10)
Watch the music video for this and remember she's a grown woman. This sounds like something Charli XCX might match. Some call it a "Brat Bummer." In all seriousness, at least she's being experimental with her music. Trying new things is the best part here, but every single song seems to only cater to a specific audience and comes off as a burning pile of garbage. Once again, please get back with Little Mix—for your career's sake.

Last Song - Alan Walker/Faouzia (6/10)
Good, but too simple.

Too Many Women - Jordan Adetunji/KWN (4.5/10)
It's not for me, but it has charting potential due to its bouncing, flavorful beat.

BAILE INOLVIDABLE - Bad Bunny (8/10)
I really like how he used the traditional samba-like beat (I believe it's samba) and high-pitched noises (to be honest, I can’t find what they're called). They sound AMAZING and add a new layer to the track. It sounds traditional yet perfect for a club. That's the incredible work Bad Bunny can do—a gem of a track! There's so much to unwrap here.

Same Old Song - The Lumineers (6/10)
It's heartfelt, and you can hear the effort in his voice. It's just too basic to leave a lasting impression. They played it safe.

Change The Channel - clipping. (3/10)
This is literally some weird lyrics rushed and spat out in a completely non-musical way. The beat sounds like something from a Geometry Dash level. This is seriously bad.

Portrait Of My Heart - SPELLLING (4/10)
Yeah... I’m going to disappoint, but I’m really not feeling this. Her vocals are beautiful, but this just sounds... well, I don’t really know how to put it. It’s just not good.

Orlando Love - Japanese House (8/10)
This perfectly fits a scenic ocean view—soft and lovely.

Hooked - Franz Ferdinand (8/10)
The only bad part is the singer sounds like a masculine, six-packed man with that "ohhhhh yeah" voice, which is a bit annoying. But still, THIS IS A BOP! Its pulse is anything but basic. It has that infectious energy that makes you want to creep onto the dance floor and pull some moves!

Can A Heart Take - Warren Zeiders (6/10)
It'll fit just fine into American country radio, which usually plays mid-to-just-good songs.

Drunk Love - Ty Myers (6/10)
It’s unique to see a 17-year-old sing about such topics. It’s actually much better than my first experience with Ty!

Her World - SKIIFALL/Jorja Smith (5/10)

Building 650 - Squid (5/10)

Lexapro Doesn’t Work - Cynthoni (5/10)
Too long and lazy—just a simple loop.

Ferry Lady - Panda Bear (6.5/10)
Good song, but the music video is horrible.
