US HOT 100 3.11.24 SUMMARY & REVIEW #10
THE TOP 10:
'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is the highest Christmas entry, up 6 spots to 10! Kendrick Lamar is new at 9 ('Man At The Garden') and 8 ('Reincarnated'). 'Die With A Smile' is down 5 spots to 7 for Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' falls off number one, down to 6. Kendrick and Dody6's 'Hey Now' is new at 5. 'Wacced Out Murals' sees Kendrick see at 4. Lamar and SZA's 'Luther' enters at 3. Kendrick Lamar and Lefty Gunplay's 'TV Off' debuts at two, and entering straight in at number one from his new album 'GNX' is 'Sqaubble Up' by Kendrick Lamar, bagging his third US number one of 2024 and third week atop the chart in 2024, as he has 7 out of the top 10 songs belonging to him!
NEW ENTRIES:
98 - Gang Baby - NLE Choppa (3/10)
This might be the most se*ual song I've ever heard in my life. The lyrics cannot go one line without mentioning something to do with s*x. 'Gang Baby' is track 1 from his album 'SL*T SZN' (I'm dead serious... that's the album name). This has a trap beat along with rushed rapping that feels like it could have had better cuts; this is sloppy, and the hook doesn't hook me in... it feels weak. I thought Christmas music was going to block this rubbish from charting, but I guess not. I'm also not trying to get a permanent ban from some of the websites I'm on, so I won't go into the tracks deep dive.
95 - Ma Meilleure ennemie - Stromae/Pomme (7/10)
Previous first listen:
Even though I don't speak the song's language, I can still tell that it's a passionate song, and I would even call it special; it fits an emotional scene perfectly and has that deepness and passionate side to it that Stromae and Pomme bring out really well! Featuring in 'Arcane League of Legends,' this proves to have some real solid base!
94 - I'm Not That Girl - Cynthia Erivo (7/10)
93 - The Wizard And I - Cynthia Erivo/Michelle Yeoh (6/10)
90 - Dancing Through Life - Jonathan Bailey/Ariana Grande/Ethan Slater/Marissa Brode/Cynthia Erivo (6.5/10)
86 - No One Mourns The Wicked - Ariane Grande/Andy Nyman/Courtney-Mae Briggs/Jeff Goldblum/Sharon D. Clarke/Jenna Boyd (5.5/10)
85 - Hello Miss Johnson - Jack Harlow (5.5/10)
Previous first listen:
Jack often brings something new to the table that interests me; this is new but certainly not a bop. 'Hello, Miss Johnson' is a flirty song where Jack flirts with Miss Johnson's daughter alongside a medium-paced pitch that aligns with the rest of the song.
Added:
I upgraded my score by 0.5. Also, I really like the music video to this!
68 - What Is This Feeling? - Ariana Grande/Cynthia Erivo (5/10)
53 - Popular - Ariana Grande (6/10)
Previous first listen:
'Popular' followed the same back-and-forth style musical songs do as this featured in the movie 'Wicked.' Cynthia Erivo also gave vocals on this. The song features a wide range of instrumentals and uses them at the correct time, which is impressive seeing how much the vocalists changed their voice. As much as this wasn't bad, I really cannot get into musical songs with acting. The piano and the light-to-strong vocal holds were a good part of the song, though, and the flow sounded correct.
44 - Defying Gravity - Cynthia Erivo/Ariana Grande (6/10)
Previous first listen:
Ending up as 7 minutes long, 'Defying Gravity' is also on Wicked the movie; it has a mass range of instrumentals and a whole orchestra behind the scenes! It mixes into the scene and sounds like it's blended well... it's just not my kind of thing.
27 - Gloria - Kendrick Lamar/SZA (6/10)
Previous first listen:
With an alternative R&B kick, SZA's 'Gloria' delves into love and also marks SZA and Kendrick's 6th collaboration together. This ends the album on a slower-moving song that hits the right notes and gives the right laid-back feel to end the album on. It didn't go above and beyond for me, but it definitely was clear and a good move to put here.
24 - GNX - Kendrick Lamar/Hitta J3/YoungThreat/Peysoh (7/10)
Previous first listen:
Continuing his bold, fearless style, this track brings out the drums with quality soul-rap and showcases this album's style extremely well, once again another song that certainly didn't miss.
14 - heart pt. 6 (7/10)
Previous first listen:
Continuing his 'The Heart' series, Kendrick mixes his more conversational delivery with emotional rap, which works as a fitting side to the album. The series showcases Lamar's views on life at the moment, a strong song that says a lot.
13 - Peekaboo - Kendrick Lamar/AzChike (7/10)
Previous first listen:
Bringing in some of that style that sounds a bit like 'Squabble Up,' Kendrick creates a hardcore song that combines Gangsta Funk to create something that has a real flow and creativity to it with a hook that gets stuck in your head within a single listen. 'Peekaboo' doesn't disappoint.
11 - Dodger Blue - Kendrick Lamar/Wallie The Sensei/Siete7x/Roddy Ricch (6/10)
Previous first listen:
With vocals from Roddy Ricch and other rappers, 'Dodger Blue' continues the sharp lyrics with the 'GNX' album style. The features were well chosen, and this song works well.
9 - Man At The Garden - Kendrick Lamar (7/10)
Previous first listen:
This poses as a song that makes you think and has meaning to it while fitting into the album structure; it's speaking out and taking leaps and risks to get you to the place you are, which is what Kendrick is doing today still. I admire this, and it makes the listeners think and really builds a new thought that 'Man At The Garden' shows.
8 - Reincarnated - Kendrick Lamar (6.5/10)
Previous first listen:
Sampling 'Made N*****' by 2Pac delves deeper into meaningful rap music; it starts with a Spanish poem to start the song and moves into a gritty main rap with plucks of a guitar in the background that sound unique and centre it out from other rap songs, with Kendrick continuing his wide range of sounds in his songs. It's safe to say the production level is continuing its peak with the raw, infused voice that is Kendrick Lamar.
5 - Hey Now - Kendrick Lamar/Dody6 (7/10)
Previous first listen:
With production from 'Not Like Us' producer Mustard, 'Hey Now,' this is very experimental and provides a sound that can't easily be replicated or unheard of. This features vocals from LA rapper Dody 6, who gives a clean, fresh sound at the end of the track that doesn't merge the energies wrongly but instead fits aside Kendrick and runs the rest of the track smoothly.
4 - Wacced Out Murals - Kendrick Lamar (7/10)
Starting off with a rough, powerhouse of a song that immediately grabs attention and spreads Kendrick's harsh essence across the track, the track talks about legacy and speaks volumes, which I admire, and the production was bold and made it a great atmosphere to start off 'GNX.' What a wish for better! Is instead of just using the boom-bap beat on the west coast rap, it had more flavour instead of just sharpness.
3. Luther - Kendrick Lamar (6/10)
Previous first listen:
'Luther' is a conscious hip-hop/soul song with additional vocals and writing from R&B star SZA. The song follows the traditional boom-bap routes while having a nice landing for both Kendrick and SZA's vocals with strings and a structure that builds the song. The main problem for me is that the song doesn't do too much, though, and just follows a rhythm that doesn't sound like it has enough flavour, especially to be a main track. Nice try, endrick, but you can do better.
2. TV Off - Kendrick Lamar/Lefty Gunplay (6/10)
Previous first listen:
With its high, well-produced beat by Mustard, Kendrick continues his high, intense energy, as this shows that there's more to come. This is a good track but not an album highlight for me.
1. Squabble Up - Kendrick Lamar (9/10)
Previous first listen:
WOW!! 'Sqaubble Up' uses the same snippet that started the 'Not Like Us' music video to start this song, and this is an all-round flavour punch that infuses character, something new, and a bit of everything to make this a mega catchy song. It has an old-school swing to it that adds to its catchiness while not making this a radio song but still making this extremely universal to listen to and setting new boundaries in rap music. This is a great follow-up to 'Wacced Out Murals' and really shows a strong point, not just in Kendrick but possibly in this decade of rap. I 100% expect to see this in my most streamed.
REENTRIES:
48 - The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You) - Nat "King" Cole

NEXT WEEK PREDICTIONS:
This week was very short on new releases from names who could actually chart.. we've got Ed Sheeran though with his new Christmas song 'Under The Tree' and I suspect one by Juice WRLD will get in there to from his new album 'The Party Never Ends' apart from that we could see Polo G, J.Cole,Glorilla or Kodak Black possibly make a new entry if there lucky.

US HOT 100 17.12.24 SUMMARY AND REVIEW #12
THE TOP 10:
'Sqaubble Up' is down to 10; at 9, 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' continues dropping. 'TV Off' at 8 and 'Luther' at 7 sees more falls for Kendrick. 'Die With A Smile' is the highest non-Christmas entry and bounces up to 6. Burl Ives 'Holly Jolly Christmas' leaps to 5, and 'Last Christmas' falls a spot for Wham. Heading into top 3 territory, Jingle Bell Rock' is up two spots to 3, and 'Rockin Around The Christmas Tree' has Brenda Lee at 2 for another week! And getting there in the 16th week atop the charts and spending their 69th charting week at 1 is 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey!
NEW ENTRIES:
98 - Indigo - Sam Barb/Every Anna (4/10)
Serving as a track of Sam's album 'Restless Mind,' the country song has a guitar beat and pace filled with drum pounds; sadly, it's not that much of a hit for me and really fails to market its own sound that propels it; it's just quite boring and feels like it lacks in a lot of ways.
93 - White Christmas - V/Bing Crosby (5/10)
BTS member V collabs with the late Bing Crosby on a remix of the classic 'White Christmas.' It keeps the original version well while adding someone different to it and something new; it fits well but doesn't really serve as a Christmas staple.
90 - Toxic Till The End - ROSÉ (5/10)
Previous first listen:
She's following the same basic pop routes of 2024, and this is no different from the other tasteless songs she's been putting out this year. I admit this has emotion to it, but it feels like Taylor Swift from Temu or something that's been done over and over again already... There's no way this is becoming a hit single, and if this was pushed as a single from her new album, I wonder just how bad the other singles will be!
Second listen:
This is still Taylor Swift from Temu.
87 - Rosones - Tito Double P (4.5/10)
Posing as a Mexican party song that really doesn't match the lyrics with the energy, it not only disappoints but feels jumbled up and weird; putting the crazy lyrics with the traditional Mexican trumpets and crunchy vocals equals this, and I feel it really could do better with some spice to the song.
66 - El Club - Bad Bunny (5/10)
Previous first listen:
This is a song about Bad Bunny simping over his ex with an electronic groove and quick edits in the music video; this is unique, which is something I like, but it fails to get stuck in my head and be something I love. It's alright.
Added:
The Spanish-speaking singer still doesn't show the single in greatness, and I believe something bigger could've been done with this; rather, it ended up like this.
REENTRIES:
99 - Jingle Bells - Meghan Trainor
[This is so bad that it charting must be a sign of the end times.]
91 - Burning Down - Alex Warren
[Still good]
89 - Khe? - Rauw Alejandro/Romeo Santos
[It's alright.]
85 - Good News - Shaboozey
[It deserves a spot here!]
48 - Christmas Time Is Here - Vince Guaraldi Trio
[I could've done without this charting... in fact, I would've preferred that.]
