I’ve been listening the The Snow Goose (‘music inspired by’ to put a fine point on it!) – Camel. For me, it’s always a joy and delight and it never gets old. There’s just something about this music – it seems to resonate on the very same frequency as Paul Gallico’s novella – quite how, I have no idea. Inspired, in the true sense of the word!

I have loved the story since I first read it (which was a scarily long time ago) and I see it unfold in my mind’s eye every time I listen. Who needs a movie?? I’ve noticed that some comments on YT and various other places criticise the album for lack of flow, being disjointed, that sort of thing but then I think that those people cannot possibly know the book, for if they did, they might understand just how faithful this musical counterpart really is.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN  "the river" cd 1980

his fifth...
a double album and every track is worthy of the admission price IMO...
a rock classic in every way, now to listen to and examine the proposed original single album...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

TRAVELING WILBURY'S  "volume 1" cd/vinyl 1988

a rock supergroup made up of Harrison, Lynne, Petty, Orbison and Dylan...
project came around because the record label wanted a b-side to a George Harrison single from his "cloud nine" album...
Harrison enlisted friends Orbison, Lynne, Petty and Dylan who were in the UK at the time and wrote "handle with care",
when he presented that track to his label they said that song is too good to be stuck on the back of a b-side and the rest is history...
anyway, a solid uplifting happy-go-lucky sounding album (musically)...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

thought i'd go with this solo Orbison performance on this occasion:

Currently - Kayak - Merlin. Also came across a Swedish band called A.C.T. which is apparently eclectic prog - whatever that may be! Probably just defies description, in other words.  Rolleyes Anyway - I listened to Last Epic which has some almost metal moments - the riffs for sure, if nothing else - never quite devolves to the extent that I wanted to stop listening to it though. Huh - not sure I'll listen again but it was far from terrible. They reminded me a bit of Kayak (albeit with shades of Queen and 10cc) which is why I've ended up listening to Merlin

Prior to the A.C.T. adventure, I tried a band called Emerald Dawn which unfortunately conjures up a garish picture in my mind - not a good one! LOL! The album I listened to was ok but I'm not quite sold. They have a new album in the works. We will see!

Merlin is a very strange album. Side 1 is themed on the legend and Side 2 is a mixture of odd songs. I honestly don't know what was going on in their heads? I'd have thought the subject matter could have been stretched out endlessly but maybe they ran out of creative steam? Hmmm ...

Side 1 is my preference - Side 2, you can keep. I mean - seriously - from "Niniane (Lady of the Lake)" to Boogie Heart?? Eish - as they say in the classics! Speaking of which ...
