Had forgotten about Steve Unruh until stumbling over a new release teaser by an outfit named The Samurai of Prog. Lo and behold - he's one them. Nearly didn't listen as that's quite a cheeky claim! Glad I did - books really cannot be judged by their covers, or titles - as the case may be. Found this which is from a previous album - really must track down some of their stuff ... fab violin - always a thing for me ...
Just seen that they cover Camel's "Ice" on this album - huh ... and I noticed that Ton Scherpenzeel appears on another of their albums. It's that genealogy of rock again! A giant tapestry.

NEIL YOUNG with CRAZY HORSE "everybody knows this is nowhere" cd, 1969.
a revisit after a few years....
his second solo set of many and first sith Crazy Horse...
CH were known as The Rockets prior to this album, thus the track "running dry (requiem for the rockets)" in case you didnt know....
i never know where to put this one as it is country, folk, soft rock and rock....
lyrically and musically this is as good as anything from his vast back catalogue,
vocally, he still sounds a bit unsure of himself IMO, but that adds to the atmosphere of the album...
the experts have traced Grunge's family tree back to this album, i dont get it but im sure Neil would be impressed.
excellent album that still sounds as fresh as it did when i first heard it in the early 00's and seems to get better with age.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
really enjoyed this one on this occasion...

Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Boulevard
Something to warm up a winter's evening - brrr!! One of those timeless, dependable albums - for me anyway - covers included.

Roger Hodgson - Open the Door. Not a single dud track on this album IMHO. Usually tend to go with "Death and a Zoo" which is absolutely gorgeous, but today I realised, he's been killing me softly all along! ... and I love the key changes. Trevor Rabin on backing vocals ...

Today I watched the video of "Venus" by Shocking Blue. Mariska Veres...very attractive and sultry Dutch singer in '69.

Alan Parsons - On Air
Some of the tracks sound a bit pedestrian to me these days, but on the whole, not a bad listen. Ian Bairnson is great, as usual - good vocalists as well - never a misstep in that department. Eric Stewart of 10cc on this one ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pVHMEmwOpg ...
The instrumental break ...

Not finding a single new release I'm in the mood to try out this week. It's a bit of a desert out there! Quite scary - what are we going to do when there's nothing left but the Lil' people???!!!
I'm in the mood for old favourites anyway, and very grateful for the phenomenon that was Gerry Rafferty. This album is about two tracks too short IMHO ... Sleepwalking. On the other hand, there's zero filler.
The opener is fab ... great drums by the Steeleye Span sticksman Liam Genocky (his bio says he is easily identified by his long plaited beard - lol!), cool bass too courtesy of Mo Foster, Mel Collins on sax (about which nothing further needs to be said!), Hugh Burns on lead - another one of those prolific session guys you've definitely heard but don't know it kinda thing ...
