Been listening to Led Zeppelin's 'The Song Remains The Same' double live CD in the car over the last few days. I have 2 versions of this - the original and the super duper deluxe all bells and whistles remastered repackaged version. The original is far better. The new version has a very muddy mix and lacks the clarity the original had. Amazing how good those 4 guys were together.

I'm listening to Kayak's Cleopatra: The Crown of Isis. I think they imagined a rock opera here - it's an hour and 47 minutes worth of listening - super ambitious. Enjoying what I am hearing so far. They've had different line-ups over the years, including singers - I'm not familiar with all of them. This has me fairly engrossed - until such time as the power goes off which will be shortly. Rolling blackouts are upon us yet again.
Can't find any clips to post but of what I've heard, would have chosen "Goodbye Pharos". I think they've managed to capture the vibe and atmosphere of ancient Egypt - not that I was there, lol!

glad i did, loved it from the get-go...

to be honest, still not a real fan of those two tracks...
love just about everything else on it
album went #1 everywhere and sold an impressive 9.1 million sales back in the day...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

JOHN FOGERTY "deja vu,all over again" cd, 2004
John's sixth studio album as a solo artist...took him three and a half years to release seven with CCR, yet around thirty years to release six as a solo artist!
album reached #23 in the US, but failed to chart bith here and in the UK for some reason!
songs on here are somewhat political in nature often drawing comparisons between Vietnam and Iraq....
different styles on this album also, very Knopfler on "nobody's here anymore", "she's got baggage" very Ramones' sounding, country rock on "rhubarb pie", sort of a disco feel to "radar", and very Hendrix type psychadelia on the final track "in the garden"...which i dont like!
all up though, it is still a Fogerty album and no matter what he does his sound still comes through inevitably!
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
worst track: in the garden
best track: she's got baggage
tracks:
1. deja vu(all over again) ***
2. sugar sugar(in my life) ***
3. she's got baggage ***

Right was listening to this in the car on the way to get some supplies and then realised that notwithstanding the fact that I have listened to this track a zillion times I did not know who the vocalist was. Turns out it is one Cara Dillon who I know nothing about. Anyway here is the track in question. The directions on the packet say that you must play this loud enough to annoy your neighbours and then let them simmer for a while before repeating the process again at a much higher volume. How's that for a guitar solo?

And now that I have discovered Cara how about this for a performance - I think I'm in love - https://youtu.be/_CCi13tnW5o

JOHN FOGERTY "premonition" cd, 1998.
his first live album.
eighteen tracks, at least half are CCR, the rest solo...
all trakcs blend well together, no disparity between old and new...
the DVD has several tracks that didnt fit on the cd, but thats okay...
as much as i love Fogerty this album does fall flat in the sound production to me...
i can get passed that, its still a good collection of tunes...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM (but i love the DVD live concert, different sound quality)
lets go for something not CCR for a change:
