Busy listening to Rick Wright's 1978 solo effort called 'Wet Dream'. Not his greatest work but I quite like it. It's a very quaint production. Rick himself described it as an album that he created to warm up for the next Floyd effort. My favourite - the instrumental track 'Waves' - just love the sax on this track.

Mark Knopfler - Get Lucky - the liner notes make for an interesting read. Amazing where his ideas come from.
Love this track - a song about the ships built in Glasgow and Newcastle that end up in the wrecking yards of India - amazing storytelling and imagery.

And a live version of the final track on the album - awesome!!! A song about his uncle who died aged 20 in 1940 - a piper who carried his instrument into battle with him. Pure genius.

Eureka - Shackleton's Voyage
Fantastic album. Soooo evocative - mostly instrumental and I'm so glad. More words would have spoiled it - not that the few vocal tracks are terrible, quite the opposite - it's just that the icy wastes don't lend themselves to lyrics, IMHO, and he's drawn a much more powerful picture instrumentally - it allows room for imagination. I've heard some of Frank Bossert's other work and this is the only album I really really like - brilliantly done. Finally ordered it - whether it will ever arrive remains to be seen! Still waiting for Steve Hackett's new one to arrive, a month later.

i listened to the linked track Ruby...
ive read a lot about Shackleton and his trip to the Antarctic and if i could put music to it then this would be it for sure!

have either of you seen the doco narrated by Kevin Spacey from around 20 years ago, excellent stuff IMO.

^^I ordered mine from Bandcamp Jerome - you get a download if you want one, as well as a CD. I think they take 10% of the price and the artist gets the rest. Trying to order as beneficially to the musician as possible nowadays - it's not always practical, or doable!
I haven't seen that documentary CH.
Can recommend Shackleton's own account which is quite astonishing. I wrote about it here some time back ...
