KNUT REIERSRUD – Ballads and Blues from the 20’s Vol. 1

I imagine that it’s the 2020’s to which he is referring. Recognised the name, went back to check where I remembered him from and found this clip – he could definitely give MK a run for his money which is why I noticed him here in the first place - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnuwyCF4oM0 none of which has anything to do with this new album/EP, lol! Sorry.
Back to the music in question – I seem to have a penchant for Norwegian guitarists – no idea why – loving the tones that emanate from these Nordic souls (Terje Rypdal is just brilliant IMHO), so I was sorry that there wasn’t more of that kind of playing on display here. Reiersrud is generally known as a blues guy and has enlisted a retinue of fellow musicians to produce this little offering, including his wife, who duets with him on “One Tribe” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA1bA3AsvhQ and who painted the cover artwork.
The release is a bit of a mixed bag with a certain amount of charm –
