What Are You Listening To?
[Image: 220px-TheAlanParsonsProject-EyeintheSky.jpg]

ALAN PARSONS PROJECT  "eye in the sky" cd, 1982

their sixth.
I own two, the other, At The Turn Of A Friendly Card, I like that one.
this one, previously posted back in 2013, was a dislike album.
liked half of it, dislike the remainder.
nothing has changed, can take or leave this one.

JET  "get born" vinyl, cd  2003.

Damn!
this album is almost twenty years old!
I remember buying it!
anyway, another deliberate pick today.
classic rock and roll on here.
a few tracks with bluesy riffs and catchy tunes.
a few acoustic style songs and the piano based Beatle-esque Look What You've Done.
a classy album from the get-go.
probably the greatest rock album since 2000.
they had a bright future ahead of them but after this album they toured the world as support
for Oasis, the Gallagher's introduced them to Coke (not cola) and they never came close to this
album again.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

I don't normally post the obvious choice as a link but I think this video is cool.

The wonderful Auberge - Chris Rea. Fab album. Such a mood enhancer.  Big Grin

Loving this track today ... I think it's something to do with the open road imagery ... piano is great on this one too ...

^Very nicely done by MK - would expect nothing less!

In case anyone's interested, there's a posthumous J.J. Cale album of previously unreleased songs that I've listened to but never got around to posting. I don't think it wowed me which is probably why. But I recall that it was good ol' standard Cale stuff and not horrible. Wow is not the right word to use in association with J.J. Cale anyway - he was far too chilled for wowing.

ROLLING STONES  "tattoo you" cd/vinyl  1981

sixteenth album by the band.
side one/first half is their raunchy bluesy rock and roll,
second half/second side is more ballady/slow blues numbers.
not entirely a new recording as most of the tracks date back to 1972.
they were leftovers, demos, out takes, unfinished bits and pieces.
band had to release something and Mick and Keith were in the middle of
one of their famous hissy-fits so they worked separately to complete these
tracks, only coming together to make the videos.
doesn't fare as good for me as it used to but still a good album.
two favourite tracks are the singles, Start Me Up/Waiting On A Friend but i'll post
something different this time round:

Manassas - Pieces (2009)

It's a collection of outtakes and alternate takes of some of their stuff. Doesn't entirely live up to the promise of the first track which is what sucked me in. Previously unreleased ...
