Must give it a try Crazy Man - one of my late brothers favourite albums. I would be VERY surprised if you do not like it.
here is the whole album - https://youtu.be/Eu9trxBUAww

And I am going to start off the new year with the album that woke me up to how powerful music can be - still waiting for someone to come up with something even close to this - https://youtu.be/YLIy2t-KAc0

Shawn Phillips is my listening pleasure to end off the very challenging year that was 2019 - Rumpelstiltskin's Resolve. Never not gonna love his music (most of it anyway!). Incredible songs on this album, "Early Morning Hours", "Serendipity Peace" and "Wailing Wall" which is really speaking to me today ... crackles and all.

![]() THE KINKS "Arthur (or the decline and fall of the British Empire)" cd, 1969/2019 a Christmas gift from my sister the 2019 remaster/reissue of this forgotten classic Kinks album from 1969. based on the heartbreak both Ray and Dave felt when their sister and her husband, Arthur, emigrated to Australia in the late 1960s. album flopped everywhere, only charted in the US at a lowly #105 four singles issued, with the only charting one being "Victoria" which barely scraped the top40 anywhere another glorious hidden gem in the Kinks arsenal I LOVE THIS ALBUM the title track: the lyrics: Arthur was born just a plain simple man In a plain simple working class position Though the world was hard and its ways were set He was young and he had so much ambition All the way he was overtaken By the people who make the big decisions But he tried and he tried for a better life And a way to improve his own condition If only life were easy it would be such fun Things would be more equal and be plenty for everyone Arthur the world's gone and passed you by Don't you know it, don't you know it You can cry, cry all night but it won't make it right Don't ya know it, don't ya know it Arthur we know and we sympathize Don't ya know it, don't ya know it Arthur we like you and want to help you Somebody loves you don't you know it How is your life and your Shangri-la And your long lost land of Hallelujah And your hope and glory has passed you by Can't you see what the world is doing to ya And now we see your children Sailing off in the setting sun To a new horizon Where there's plenty for everyone Arthur, could be That the world was wrong Don't ya know it, don't ya know it Arthur, could be You were right all along Don't ya know it, I hope ya know it Now we know and we sympathize We'd like to help you and understand you Don't ya know it, don't ya know it Somebody loves you, don't ya know it Don't ya know it, don't ya know it Arthur the world's gone and passed you by Don't ya know it, don't ya know it You can cry, cry all night But it won't make it right Don't ya know it, don't ya know it Arthur we read you and understand you Arthur we like

Jorma Kaukonen - Quah
![]() Guitarist and vocalist from Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna before embarking on a solo career which kicked off with this debut album. Not sure where the weird owl thing on the cover comes from!! From what I can gather it was designed by his wife at the time who was a frustrated artist and who descended into psychedelia very heavily - things didn't end well. Anyway - his voice sometimes reminds me of Cat Stevens and oddly, Rodriguez. Very listenable I thought - I'd pick it up if it shouted at me - folk/rock - he's got a lot more bluesy since then - the signs were clear. He's a really excellent guitarist and there is a nice string section on here for occasional songs. Tom Hobson provides lead vocals on two tracks, one of which is one of my favourites on a first up listen ... "Blue Prelude" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nUfc67puhw - kinda messy by strangely appealing "Flying Clouds" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5Lyw2klBtE "Hamar Promenade" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JHNi40TlMM The lead track ...

![]() JIMMY BARNES "flesh and wood" cd, 1993 his seventh solo set an acoustic set that are stripped down versions of his own songs, Cold Chisel songs and a few covers. album was a failure by his standards, only reached #2 on the Aussie charts and was only certified 2x platinum also. half of the fifteen tracks are duts with other Aussie vocalist. album shows a more mature side to Barnes that his blues rock sound songs stripped down like this make it easy to hear the lyrics clearly nothing on here matches the originals but its a nice one to listen to whilst driving I LIKE THIS ALBUM
