The new project

Plodding down the new electronic project road. Should have something up on the site by Monday - the next movement of the new project is being worked on at the moment. And I have a large library of stuff that I have never published but I need to see which bits fit and which don't. If any. A daunting and time-consuming task.

Spent about 6 hours working on a piece this morning from about 2am onwards only to find I am not happy with how it's turned out at all. Back to the proverbial drawing board once again...bugger!

so when you spend that amount of time on your project with unsatisfactory results do you get P'd off or do you just see it as an avenue explored that didn't pan out?

A learning process - you always get some sort of lesson from these things. You have to try different paths every now and then - some work - some don't.

Opera!!! I would not have a clue. You have to remember I am a hobbyist. This is just a pastime for me. And the project I am working on is purely electronic - just synths. I do create other stuff as well - with session musicians etc.

Now I had a listen to this - I like it - impressive performance but the screaming part you can keep.

The screaming part I love except it’s not really screaming it’s her ‘head voice’.
I often describe my artwork as a hobby or a therapy knowing it’s more than that. What I’ve listened to of yours takes is beyond of the realm of a ‘mere’ passtime. In fact I suspect an attuned movie producer could use a lot of it very effectively.

Well seeing as it's all instrumentals (BTW I do have 2 albums worth of singer/songwriter folk stuff that I did years ago but never really pursued - proud words on a dusty shelf!) they could probably use it as a soundtrack to a porn movie or something LOL. Thx for the comments anyway, but I am a realist. I see the flaws in it. Definitely agree with the therapy theory - takes me away from the humdrum of daily crap we have to deal with. I understand about the 'head voice' bit - I just don't like that part. But you can see she is totally immersed in what she is doing. By the way tell the producer to call me - favourable terms and conditions apply!!! The only place I can see it ever being used is a nature documentary or something like that. And then only short bits and extracts. I do not like the recording process (studios/musicians/producers/engineers etc.) it's an environment full of egos & BS and to date I have never set foot in a studio other than my own humble home studio. I have used many session musicians from different parts of the world and I would estimate 70% to 80% of the time I have had to discard the parts, but unfortunately not the bill. I prefer the idea of coming up with an idea. The spark of creativity. That moment is what makes it for me. Hence the small boy/girl dragging the lightbulb on my homepage. A child lost in a world of imagination. I am sure some therapist will have a plausible, logical explanation for all of this but when you are busy fiddling around with ideas and the solution suddenly lands in your lap (pardon the pun) - you can't buy moments like that. It can put you on a high for weeks - without a prescription too!
