fourteenth solo set from Mr Sumner...
a covers set...
covering his own songs from his lengthy recording career...
some songs totally reimagined, others remixed and some re-recorded using samples
of the original songs...
overall, this does not work for me..
the feel of some songs like "fragile", "fields of gold", "Englishman in New York" and
"every breath you take" should never be tampered and played around with, not even by
the originator of them, and IMO, Sting totally destroys these tunes...
others simply do nothing to detract or enhance from the originals but one works really well
IMO, in fact it surpasses the original version by a country mile, sort of like the JXL remix of Presley's
"a little less conversation" from a decade ago...
not something I would buy unless it was in a discount bin for a couple of bucks...
my favourite:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
