Rupi's Dance - Ian Anderson solo album named after his moggy. A nice departure from Tull stuff. Some amazing flute playing and some really clever lyrics to boot.

The Band - Northern Lights, Southern Cross. Haven't listened to The Band in a while. Some rich material on this - "Hobo Jungle" doesn't appear to be as popular as the rest of the songs on the album but I like Richard Manuel's sound - I like Levon too, but that goes without saying! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkSKbAyxKDA, and then there's this classic ...

i recently read something somewhere about drummers, could have been the online article about Ringo becoming a Sir and a comment made by someone rang true to me (for the most part)...
"drummers should not be allowed near microphones, except Levon Helm"

You can include Don Henley in that as well.

^^Roger Taylor doesn't fare too badly either, but it's true - they are rare. (That's Queen's RT)

Genesis – Wind and Wuthering. I guess Phil deserves a spot up there^ too!
Tony Banks’ creation – “One for the Vine” …

Tubular Bells II at full volume. Marvellous stuff.
(30-03-2018, 12:51)Ruby Wrote: Jethro Tull - Catfish Rising. I've only given this album a cursory listen up to now - not sure why. I quite like it. Not my favourite JT, that would be Heavy Horses, without question. Some oddly Dire Straits sounding moments along with a positively piratical Ian Anderson. Lol!

^TB II is my favourite.
Colin Bass - An Outcast of the Islands. Lovely album helped along by the keening guitar of one A Latimer.

![]() THE WHO "tommy" cd, 1969: their fourth.... I cant believe it only took them that many album to reach that pinnacle!... as a comparison The Beatles were still releasing "eight days a week" from "beatles for sale" as their fourth album and it took Small Faces till their fifth to release "ogdens nut gone flake" so I rest my case as to the genius that is/was Pete Townshend... a concept album about a deaf, dumb and blind kid who could play a mean pinball to escape the memories of sexual abuse at the hands of a relative, a deep dark subject not only then but also in todays world!... Townshend said in his "who I am" autobiography that he was Tommy and the album was his way of coming to terms with the sexual abuse he suffered as a child in post WWII Britain... a classic album, and my favourite of theirs by a long shot and can only be enjpoyed with the volume up on full and the cans on! could have picked literally any track off this one but I chose this one on this occasion:

![]() JOHNNY WINTER "nothin' but the blues" cd, 1977: eighth studio set from Mr Winter.... a return to blues rock after a couple of albums of drifting away from it.... one cover on here, a Muddy Waters track, the rest are all originals... full on blues rock here, not surprising with Muddy and his band performing all musical duties here... another very good album from Johnny Winter...
