What Are You Listening To?

KISS  "alive!" cd,  1975:

another blast from the past...
their first live set, a double vinyl album...
contains now, what we know, to be their "classic" material...
a blistering assault on the ears...
the band were truly at their best around this time...
up there with Neil's "live rust" and Dire Straits "alchemy" for me

not the 1975 version but the best version of the song:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Doobie Brothers - World Gone Crazy

Released in 2010 after a ten year hiatus, I think the album sounds good. Maybe they had needed the break - there are serious songs and some quite emotionally stirring ballads sitting cheek by jowl with good ol' rock n roll. Quite well balanced IMHO and it comes across as though they were having a bit of fun. By this stage, they would know exactly what they were doing, musically speaking - they sit easy together. As an aside, there is a rumour of a new album sometime this year.

Coupla guests making an appearance on a few tracks. These are some stand outs, for me ...

"I Know We Won" with Willie Nelson ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi46aeorR3A

"Old Juarez" - channelling Santana a wee bit, maybe?? ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLO_SIHwVhE

"Don't Say Goodbye" - Michael McDonald here ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9GEipcx5Eg

"Far From Home" - get out the tissues ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkYn8nfHhb8

"Chateau" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMhmwQ5z-e4

A remake of "Nobody" - gotta love the video ...

^Ooer. Sorry to hear that CH!
Probably depends on the album. I think they had some mid-career misses themselves. Lol!

KINGFISH  "kingfish"  vinyl, 1976:

Grateful Dead side project for Weir, Kelly and Torbert....
1970s rock/soft rock/country crossover material here...
all originals except for a cover of Marty's "big iron"...
a very good album IMO.

from the album, one of the tracks that sum up the sound of the album:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

HUMBLE PIE  "smokin' "  vinyl  1972

the band's fifth studio set...
first without Peter Frampton....
I was/am a an because of ex-Small Faces vocalist Steve Marriott...
a couple of covers on this nine track album...
Cochran's "cmon everybody" and  Junior Walker's "roadrunner"...
not keen on the roadrunner thing, but love the slow burn of the Cochran track....
Stephen Stills guest on a couple of tracks playing Hammond Organ...
a solid blues rock album...
im hearing Black Keys and Black Crowes all over this one...
so, im a huge fan of the band , and like I said, Marriott in particular so its
now wonder I love this album!

the single, nice collage of clips in the video, shame its not an actual clip of the track:
