MYSTERY JETS "curve of the earth" cd, 2016:
UK alt/indi band....
sixth album, only one I own....
liked this alt-pop when I listened to it as a new release, enough so, that I purchased it...
big mistake, hate it when that happens, which it inevitably does on occasion....
very little to like on here for me, even the three or four that pass only just have their toes over the line!
one of the singles:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

RAY LAMONTAGNE "ouroboros" cd, 2016:
American folkie's sixth studio album...
no real folk on here....
guy has an almost whiney quality to his vocals (like Neil Young)...
tracks have that alternative folk sound Neil gets every now and then...
also gets that soft grunge sound Crazy Horse get in their quieter moments also...
a very good album IMO but the critics hated it as it was too far away from his folky roots...
did not know until I was listening to it this time that Jim James from My Morning Jacket produced
and played on the album, so I guess his influence is on it also...
probably worth a listen IMO...
the first single lifted from the album, and my favourite track...
give it a listen...
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

JIM JAMES "eternally even" cd, 2016:
vocalist for alt rockers My Morning Jacket...
his second solo album...
not as eclectic or as good as his first one (Regions Of Light And Sound Of God) but still okay...
almost jazzy in places, well lets say psychedelic-jazz for want of a better word/phrase...
takes a few listens to appreciate but all of his output does for me...
could grow on me further with time but at the moment I can at least say I like it...
from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

MEN AT WORK "cargo" vinyl/cd, 1983:
Aussie band's second album...
they released three, I only have the first two...
a good pop album, nothing bad on it at all, but it lacks the killer punch of "who can it be now"
from the first album...
still following their almost novelty type lyrics on this one for the most part, but like "who can it be now"
its the serious ones that are the best...
from the album, the biggest selling single and my favourite:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

THE KILLERS "wonderful, wonderful" cd, 2017:
the band's fifth, and fifth I own...
slightly more pop orientated than their other albums, a departure from their
usual alt-rock/pop sounds....
change in departure of sound also reflected the pretty bad sales figures...
I didn't mind, love the band, love Brandon Flowers' vocals etc...
not my favourite of theirs but still a pretty good album IMO
from the album, the lead off single:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

LIAM GALLAGHER "as you were" cd, 2017:
Liam's third release since the demise of Oasis,
the first two were under the name Beady Eye, I didn't buy them, hated the sound he getting...
this one is more in line with the sounds I like from him, the Oasis sound.....
the best thing he has done in over twenty years, and that includes the Oasis material he appeared on....
not a bad track in ear-shot,a very good, solid album, would have probably had been my "album of '17" had
it not been for brother Noel's album a couple of weeks later...
from the album, the third single and currently my favourite track off the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

KAISER CHIEFS "the future is medieval" cd, 2011
UK alt-rockers....
fourth studio album of six...
I own three from memory plus a compilation good solid band...
their lowest charting studio album in the UK, peaking at a lowly #10...
three singles released from the album, all three failed also...
album starts off reasonably good, a couple of duds in the mix but okay overall
the singles:
"little shocks" #179 UK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt4JGk6pn2U video
"man on mars" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfnAzDDBMbk video
"kinda girl you are" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VHmc6LEU_o video
my favourite track from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

FALL OUT BOY "save rock and roll" cd, 2013
fifth studio album of seven released (the latest released last week!)....
I own four or five....
top 10 in most countries...
US alt-rock band....
good solid alt rock here...
pretty close to being my favourite of theirs...
from the album, the lead of single, which also happens to be my favourite on it:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS "who built the moon?" cd, 2017
the elder brother's third solo set...
tenth album overall if you include the Oasis ones...
also the tenth studio set of his career to peak at #1 in the UK...
some so called Kraut-rock sounds here, some almost Prodigy sounds also...
some sound effects (birds chirping, alarm clocks etc etc...)...
but for the most part, the thumping sounds of early Oasis without sounding like Oasis...
Gallagher has a habit of also making new songs sound familiar (like a long lost friend) upon first hearing them
without ever hearing them previously, and thas an art in its right!...
a great album, without a doubt my #1 album of 2017:
doesn't mean youll like it though, the Gallagher's are the sort of artists you either love or loathe!
fromt he album, the lead off single...
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

JERRY HARRISON "casual Gods" vinyl, 1988:
Jerry's second solo set...
member of Talking Heads...
songs have that TH sound...
this album start off okay, then it becomes too monotonous and predictable by time I
turn over to side 2....
album was a relative failure after the TH albums/singles worldwide, but it did sell very well
both here in Australia and in New Zealand...
I guess I was hooked on the hit "rev it up" back in the day to buy this but no more...
that song is boring now...
I couldn't care less whether I hear this one again or not, and I certainly wouldn't bother
getting the cd version neither...
my favourite track:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
