PAUL McCARTNEY "new" cd, 2013
revisiting this one once again....
i dont know what it is, but i cannot get into this one...
it could be the way he is trying to reinvent himself to appear
'new' and relevant to a younger audience...
it could be his voice, which has seen better days, not that its that bad,
its lost its spark...
the songs are, for the most part, autobiographical, but i think they are
poorly written and sung...
after four years, i still dislike this album with a passion!
from the album, one of only two or three i actually think are okay:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

Probably Elton's best live album ever. Live in Australia - a magnificent production - the strings on these tracks give me goosebumps.

On something of an Elton revival here today - another fascinating piece of his - https://youtu.be/CFSlSCjzV_U
His response to John Lennon's murder - https://youtu.be/RDRmDlJtIdU
One of my real faves of his - https://youtu.be/nZdDxR_IDgk

DREAM THEATER "the astonishing" cd, 2016:
the bands thirteenth studio album, my first, have bought another six I think since this one...
two discs, two and a half hours of a concept about robots taking over everything including music..
love the music, love the vocals, and love the album cover...
superb recording from some of the best musicians on the planet...
as with most conceptual albums, the songs have little meaning outside of the album as a whole...
the music experts have compared this one to two other classic concept albums...Tommy/The Wall..
I don't know, but it is brilliant:
from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

Yes, it's a great album. It was my first album with Queen and my favorite song is '39
I just went back and revisited this one on the cd player because both of you love it and I cannot
remember ever liking the album...
I was right, I do not like it, it sounds like a disjointed mess to me...
only tracks I like are "good company", "youre my best friend", "bohemian rhapsody" and " '39"
and like you Frands, my favourite is '39

..............
KISS - "kiss" cd, 1974.
their debut set...
contains seven tracks that are still live staples to this day...
one cover on here, Bobby Rydell's "kissin' time", the least likable one on the album IMO...
this album is in their top three along with "revenge" and "destroyer"...
a classic rock album that holds its own against any rock/hard rock album ever recorded!

Magna Carta – Prisoners on the Line and The Fields of Eden. Lost track of them after Lord of the Ages and was surprised to find that these releases date to 2009 and 2015 respectively. I think there’s only one original member remaining, but the essence remains, thanks to him – Chris Simpson. I’ve listened to both albums online – these later albums are less progressive and more folk oriented, and they are a strange mixture of a bit staid and preachy, and on the other hand lyrical and magical. Hmmm – will have to listen again methinks – might have always been that way. Not a lot of clips available in my country for the later albums, and of course, they named themselves well before the advent of the www when it wouldn’t have been a problem, but try searching Magna Carta and see what comes up, lol!
Here’s one from Prisoners on the Line - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oZGMZEqXak, and because Lord of the Ages still speaks to me more than any others I’ve heard … “Wish it Was” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isGK7ODtKAM, and the title track …

So many people over the years have told me to listen to this album (post above) and for some inexplicable reason I never have. Need to take some time out today to listen to this once and for all.

Listened to Magna Carta via YT. Some of it I like but it's not the masterpiece I thought it would be. It also sounds a bit dated to me. This morning it's going to be Simon and Garfunkel - The Concert in Central Park. One of my favourite live albums.

^^Sounds like a loyal friend and fan.
I have three of their albums and it was a bit of a nostalgic revisiting I must say. Have to agree that Lord of the Ages has not stood up to its title very well and is definitely dated. Nostalgia tends to tinge things slightly! I still like a few of the tracks but probably not enough to play again in the foreseeable future.
