Movie recommendations please !

The Human Stain - Anthony Hopkins, Nicole Kidman & Ed Harris - was watching this at 4am this morning - mesmerising stuff. One of the those movies that really makes you think. Acting is superb.

I watched the new Beauty and the Beast movie, I think it's fine but it lacks the magic of the original animated film, IMO. It tried to answer some things the original one didn't though and it's a bit darker. Also, it cracked a billion dollars at the box office!

Disney is planning on making a live action version of The Lion King now - that will be a hit, I think.

I'm into animated films and think such films should be nominated. Animation can be a mature and artistic medium too. Some of my favorite films are animated like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, and more.

Lady and the Tramp is a decent film.

I did not like cartoons even when I was a kid. I know, weird.

I did like the Flintstones for some reason. I guess because they seemed more real.
First show I remember liking was Zorro. I was just a baby but I liked that show.

to this day I don't like anything that has talking animals
even as a kid I knew that animals didn't talk
Flintstones were ok, but guess what, they were people, not animals
for me as a kid Saturday mornings were, Lone Ranger, Sky King, Sgt Preston, Fury, Rin Tin Tin
the animals on those shows did not talk

Lion – a movie starring Dev Patel (Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Life of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire) and Nicole Kidman. 

Based on the true story of Saroo, a young Indian boy (aged about 5) who gets separated from his older brother, falls asleep on a train and ends up travelling 1,500km away from where he started (which he had no way of calculating), finally getting off in Calcutta. Only able to speak Hindi, he struggles to communicate as the language of Calcutta is Bengali – this complicates matters even further - he's utterly and definitively lost. Scarily, 80,000 children go missing in India every year – it’s a staggering and horrific statistic. After living rough for a few months and eluding kidnappers and other evil adults, he’s taken to an orphanage where they supposedly try to trace his mother but ultimately he is adopted by a Tasmanian couple. 

Twenty odd years later, he starts remembering things and develops a burning desire to find his family, plagued by the notion that they don't know what happened to him. The only problem is that no-one’s ever heard of the town he comes from and all he knows is that his mother’s job was to carry rocks – she was a labourer, and that her name was ‘mum’. He begins a search on Google earth taking into account the distance he imagines he might have travelled, calculated on the speed of the trains in those days plus the length of time he was on board, and the images he can remember, i.e. a water tank opposite the station.
 
It’s a real emotional roller coaster ride – all the more incredible because it’s true. The cinematography captures the sprawling vastness of India and the extreme poverty and dire conditions under which a seething mass of humanity somehow survives. The western world has no idea. Those kids are the most vulnerable human beings on the planet – it’s absolutely harrowing to think of – 11 million children living on the streets! The human race is an abomination sometimes – truly. This was a lucky boy indeed.
 
A real eye-opener and a good movie. Recommended.

Did not know Bill Paxton passed away this year until tonight. Shocker!!
He was only 61. Bill died of a stroke in Feb.
Been watching Twister alot lately. 1996 film but I love the movie.

Paxton's cause of death was a stroke resulting from complications from his heart and aorta surgery that he underwent on February 14, 2017.
He is interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Upon learning of his death, a number of storm chasers paid tribute to his Twister role by spelling his initials across Kansas and Oklahoma via the Spotter Network.

Decided to give Black or White another try. I was wrong! Sorry Kevin!!
I have to say one of Kevin's best and I loved Octavia Spencer and her interactions with Kevin.
I'm glad I gave the movie another chance! Second movie for Kevin and Ms. Spencer together.
Worth your time.


Also The Help seems to be a good movie with Ms. Spencer. Can't wait to see that one
