Brian Eno - The Shutov Assembly - about as ambient as ambient can get.

Some of his albums are brilliant and others are complete crap - you just never know what he's going to come up with next. Incidentally he composed the Microsoft Windows 'start up' tune/snippet. Apparently he created lots of versions before Uncle Gates was happy with it.

Jean Michel Jarre - Equinoxe - there are three album of his that just go together as a set - Oxygene, Equinoxe & Magnetic Fields. After that he made a departure from his usual compositional style which I did not really like all that much. Still, at least we have these three gems to remind us of what real electronic music should sound like.

Those three albums is a must in a serious music collection. Also his albums 'Rendez-Vous' and 'Révolutions' are brilliant as well imho. Have you heard anything from his new album 'Radiophonie Vol.9' (released on January the 13th-2017? it's some music and sounds made for the French TV channel Franceinfo. If so, what do you think about it?

Had a listen to this but can't say it does anything for me. It's pleasant enough but it does not have his trademark exploratory deviations.

I agree with you! I also had a listen to it last night and I must admit that it was frightful to me, then I better like his 80s and some of the 90s things

Jean Michel Jarre - Metamorphoses - favourite track is this one -

Love the way it transforms from a futuristic sound to a string section and fades out.
