Check out his live album - 'You Can't Argue with a Sick Mind' - superb in every way. All sorts of influences as well.

^^ Will do so. I have a decent list of artists/bands to check out, I love discovering new music. Confusedmile:

I've been listening to Herbie Hancock's Man-Child album lately, it's upbeat, tasty, and funky. I'm not familiar with Jazz/Jazz Fusion tbh, but I dig this.

terrible cover
but it's the music that counts
Pittsburgh boy made good just under the invasion
4 #1's in the early sixties
lovely voice
that Orbison quality for me
thought Bobby was gone but he's hanging in at 86

I like Bobby, only have a couple of old vinyl singles though...

Your favourite is also my favourite of his, loved "roses are red" and " blue velvet" also...
I should get a compilation at some point...

My dad was a big fan back in the '60s, has four or five studio albums...

"blue velvet" was reissued in the UK in 1990ish in the UK after it appeared in a commercial on UK TV, it made it to #2 all over again, then they reissued "roses are red" which from memory also made the UK top20 for a resurrection in his career.
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Disc #1:

bought this double compilation disc after I played my dads singles last year, he was a big fan of Connie's
and had probably a dozen singles of hers which I really liked, that's why I bought this set...
fifty tracks all up, twenty five on each disc....
one of the most successful female artists of the 1950s/60s and heading into the 1970s also...

BILLIE JOE + NORAH "foreverly" cd 2013

album............#19 US...#19 CAN...#63 UK

who'd have thought the Green Day singer would ever be in the "easy listening" thread?...
equally, who'd have thought Norah Jones would record with him, their music is worlds apart!...
and who'd have thought they'd get together and record a covers album of Everly Brothers
songs and it work as good as it does???...
they've kept these versions true to what Phil and Don did, simple acoustic stuff with fantastic harmonies...
a couple of times on the album I did actually think it was the Everly's singing, that's how good these guys
have covered them...
the big fans of Phil and Don might not agree, but some of these versions are the equal to, if not better
than the originals and to boot, Billie Joe and Norah's album contains my favourite Everly song..."lightning express"..
the added bonus of the album is that they've not covered the big hits, a deliberate ploy...
a very, very good album (even though it is a covers set)...
BTW, don't ignore the track I post just because its a cover MH, you will be surprised!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

4...silver haired daddy of mine **
5...down in the willow garden **
6...whos gonna shoe your pretty little feet? **
7...oh so many years **
8...Barbara Allen **
9...rockin' alone in an old rockin' chair ***
10.im here to get my baby out of jail ***
11.Kentucky **
12.put my little shoes away **
