What Are You Listening To?
so I just Wiki'd that album as i'd never heard of it...

one of my favourites, Crest Of A Knave came out five years after that one, I love that one...

yes bob_32, Fallen On Hard Times was a single according to Wikipedia...it seems it never charted anywhere though,
also happens to be the only single lifted off the album

bob_32, a couple of questions....

did you ever hear TAAB II ???

if you did, did you like it???

the reason I ask is because I like it better than TAAB which I thought was very average compared to Heavy Horses and Songs From The Wood, which are my favourites...
I shouldn't have written 'compared' because JT albums are entities in their own right.

^^ I agree about TAAB, it's good but over-rated. I have not heard TAAB II.

im pretty sure TAAB II is credited to Ian Anderson as opposed to JT, not sure why that would be considering JT were still touring in Europe around the time it was released so its not as though the band has disbanded???

Yes TAAB II is credited to Ian Anderson rather than Jethro Tull. Perhaps the other band members were not on the album? Or perhaps they were, but more in the role of studio musos under Anderson's direction? I don't know.

Seeing as we are a JT thread I decided to dig out 'Heavy Horses', - one of my favourites by them. Just love this album. The new CD version has a couple of extra tracks that are superb. Ian A has managed to capture the 'feel' of the English countryside perfectly on this album. And yes, Ruby, BATB is a great album. COAK is also good, especially 'Mountain Men'. One of the hardest working bands of that decade. IA is/was/will always be a perfectionist in all departments of music production. Have a look at the 'Live in Madison Square Garden' DVD on YT. Rock n Roll perfection.

Ruby Wrote:Jethro Tull - The Broadsword and the Beast. A lot of people seem not to love this album too much, but I do!

Artwork on this album cover is incredible. Nowadays all we see is some twerp standing on a street corner, trying to look menacing, with his pants halfway down his backside.

Seeing as Ruby mentioned 'Broadsword' I decided to dig it out. I have the new extended version of the CD - no less than 8 bonus tracks on it. Which makes me wonder just how much IA has lying around that has not been heard before. Would not be my favourite JT album, but it does have some classics on it.
