DREAM THEATER "awake" cd,1994

career stats:
studio albums......13
singles................25

this album...............#32 US...#65 UK
singles:
"lie".......................#175 UK
"caught in a web"....no chart action
"the silent man"......no chart action

the Theater's third album, also their biggest selling album to date...
mainly rock/hard rock on here, very little orchestration, I guess they hadn't
expanded their horizons at this early stage of the career...
one instrumental, and a couple of ballads also...
I love one of the ballads, but its not my favourite track, love the opening track more...
after hearing their latest one "the vanishing" and posting a couple of others I still cant really
fault these guys as writers and musicians, I thin theyre a very good band from what ive heard
so far...

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Supertramp - Paris - this has to be one of my favourite live albums. The band at their peak. After Mr Hodgson left everyone thought they were done, but they have released some fantastic work since, most notably 'Brother Where You Bound'.

superb album but it only contains 16 tracks...

I actually heard "Rikki don't lose that number" on the radio this morning and got to thinking, I really should buy some o their back catalogue, then I see your post stating "must buy some more of their stuff".

I agree CH - they have a pretty unique songwriting style - never really copied or duplicated by anyone else - and the more of their stuff I hear the more I like it but it normally takes a while for the material to sink in. Anyone else on the forum SD fans? And could anyone make any suggestions as to which albums to buy. I only have 'Greatest Hits' & 'Two Against Nature'.

A technically perfect band but I just cannot get into their stuff. It's overly complex to me

Music Head would surely be the "go to" man for the answers we seek Jerome (but I wouldn't discount Ruby neither)

BTW...Dani hates Steely Dan with a passion America and Doobie's also.
