another of those "3 for $10" discount bin purchases....
I picked up this one because I had not heard of Ben previously and was hoping for a surprise...
my instinct of his genre was pretty close...I thought he may be folky, but allmusic/amazon etc csll him 'alt folk' and 'folk rock',
so I was partially there....
not much to say really...
sounds a lot like Ben Folds with his melodies and lyrically with hints of dry sarcastic humour(don't get me wrong, I like dry sarcastic humour),
but when I hear it in songs(albums) with poppy melodies I just feel the artist isn't being serious about his/her music, I feel as though theyre
'taking the piss' out of music and doing it for a laugh...
that's why I dislike Ben Folds and after hearing this one three times, I also dislike this album and Ben Kweller....must be something in the name Ben maybe??

picked this one up as one of those "3 for $10" discount bin specials also....
I had no idea who they were previous to picking it up, but the cover art intrigued me, it was different and for $3.33
how far can you go wrong with a purchase really???
sometimes you pick something up that blows your mind, other times like this, that $3.33 was overpriced...
hard to really define this group,
some alt rock, some dreamy mellow stuff and some psychedelic sounds on this one, well, pseudo psychedelic sounds....
its getting there, but it not there....if you know what I mean...!?
this album is really all of nothing, too much happening in each song without anything really happening at all...
too little of anything really, no substance, no meat and potatoes, just nothing for me...
album gets the rare distinction of being one of only two or three in my 2,500 cd collection that gets a perfect score(no, not a good
score, but a perfect 'fail' scoring the bare minimum of 1.0)

Nick and the Bad Seeds' sixth studio album....
the music is slow, the vocals are low...typical Cave musical qualities yet theres something missing here...
its a combination of lyrics that really aren't descriptive enough, theres not much 'feel' in the music and theres little variation
throughout...which is strange because Cave usually excels at descriptive stories and feeling and mood in his songs....
very average album by his high standards and with a third of the album not cutting the pass mark for me I cant recommend this one to
anyone even though it does pass overall.
