EAGLES OF DEATH METAL "zipper down" cd, 2015
career stats:
studio albums.............4
singles......................11
this album...................#59 US...#29 AU...#32 UK
singles:
"complexity"..............no chart information.
fourth album from these Californian alt rockers....
i'd not heard of them until I heard their 'complexity' single a few weeks ago...
album sounds are very retro IMO....
lots of Glam Rock sounds happening like T-Rex, also little bits of Rolling Stones grooves/melodies and touches of Devo in places also...
lots of catchy tracks on here...
album clocks in at a measly 34 minutes with ten tracks on it....
so the tracks are short and to the point, sure theres repetition but not to the extent of stretching the tracks out to fill a compact disc time...
all original tracks on here except one....a cover of Duran duran's "save a prayer", which came off their "rio" album from the mid 1980s...
all up, a half decent album of three minute catchy tunes...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

KID ROCK "first kiss" cd, 2015
career stats:
studio albums......10

this album...............#2 US...#2 CAN...#45 AU...#52 UK
singles:
"first kiss"..............#66 US...#71 CAN
last of my 2015 released albums....
you either love or loathe this guy, me, I love him.
typical Kid Rock stuff on this one, lots of his southern redneck rock, a couple of ballads as as always, one that mentions Jesus or the Bible and/or is gospel tinged...
to me, the guy calls it as he sees it, other may think he is sprouting off on whims....
love his voice, this guy is a genuine rocker IMO and his songs have melody...
my favourite track on here happens to be the only one not written or co-written by Rock, but by Bob Seger...
not sure if its a cover of a Seger track or if Rock even changed the lyrics, but Bob Seger is credited as writing it.
the only reason I don't like the worst track, called 'johnny cash' is because I don't get it, the Kid is singing about Kentucky, the blue grass and bourbon
but its about JC....WTF, im a big fan and as far I know JC never lived in Kentucky, he came from Arkansas and basically lived there through his entire career...
but that aside....
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
worst track: johnny cash

i don't own Kid Rock's earlier albums, the ones where he tries to rap on(I guess i'll get them eventually though),
I only own four of his latter albums, the ones with the southern rock/redneck rock-country.
I think he has a genuine 'rock and roll' voice but he does go off on rants about certain subjects at times like Neil Young.
IMO, music history will see Kid Rock as a legend in years to come...
he does however, at times, have a foul mouth like the rappers, and it turns me off those songs, but thankfully theres usually only one track like that
per album, so I can live with it, if it was every song I wouldn't give him the time of day.
as for The Smiths....
I only own a compilation on cd but I own three of their four studio albums on vinyl(I don't own this last one!) plus an early compilation of "b-sides" and alternate versions.
I only own one Morrissey studio album on vinyl and a compilation on cd...
when The Smiths first emerged in the UK with "this charming man", they were already being hailed as taking the place of The Jam as the
biggest band in the UK(the Jam had disbanded in 82, they emerged in 83)....
they were never as big as The Jam but they held their own against the other big acts from the UK of that time.
I feel they could have been bigger in the UK had Morrissey been more media friendly and wasn't such a dour, solemn miserable sod when he
was interviewed, I think that kept a lot of people from liking them(like Oasis and Style Council), but they still had their loyal fans.
enough of my thoughts and opinions for one day/night, back to the music....

LOU REED "transformer" cd, 1972
career stats:
studio albums.......22
singles.................44
this album.........#29 US...#13 UK...#9 AU
singles:
"walk on the wild side".....#16 US...#10 UK...#3 AU
"satellite of love"...........#119 US...#51 UK
"vicious".................................................. #18 AU
Lou's second and most acclaimed album......
I own a few but think he has a lot of filler on those albums....
the exception being "New York", classic album IMO....
this one is full of his typically Lou Reed sound, contains the classic "walk on the wild side"
which is a classic, and would be from any era of pop music...
good melodies and tunes on this one...
a very good album and I guess all I need is "berlin" now....
I asked MH how he thought this one would pan out for me but only after I already played it and scored it...
he saw me scoring this one at 2.2, he was as close to the mark as you could get....
anyway,
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
